AudioShare: Playing any folder from the Files App? Pleaseeee

  • @tja I suspect that folder access may depend on the services offered by the document provider, so it may be out of the hands of AudioShare.

  • Does the OneDrive app have a share/download option for folders? You might be able to initiate from OneDrive then tell it to open in AudioShare.

  • I don’t use one drive too often, but I do know several other options ie External HD, Files, Dropbox, Google Drive, etc. with Audioshare- import/export files and folders quite easily.

I fear the same, but this is why a regular access to the document providers could probably help.

Yes, it's out of my hands, I'm not sure exactly why some services doesn't allow importing a folder.

I mean, lots of other Apps offer the same, for textfiles, MarkDown files, PDF files, Excel files or whatever else....
They simply change their "current directory" and work there.

That would be fantastic for AudioShare :) :) :)

Something like this is planned for AudioShare3 some time in the far away future :)

If you just want to play a track and add effects/EQ etc, you can use the FilePlayer in AUM. It does support loading files from any Files location, even external USB drives etc.

  • Not to hijack the thread but Auditor has become my main workhorse for processing audio-files...
...and since it can easily access the documents using the standard iOS file picker I can safely keep my audio-files almost anywhere on the device, super handy!

@j_liljedahl Is there any way to make the AUM recordings folder directly accessible in the Files.app when AudioShare is not installed? (As far as I know audio-files get saved to the storage container that is not visible to Files.app without AudioShare acting as a 'Storage Provider' or?).

I know the AUM session files can be accessed using Files.app while the recordings end up somewhere else...

What about an option in AUM to allows one to save the audio from the session into a folder in the AUM folder that can be seen in Files.app?

I know one of the USP's of AudioShare is the integration with AUM but that was something that was needed before the file-management in iOS got to the level where it is today :)

    Cheers!

Currently no, AUM saves recordings in the AudioShare storage, which is only accessible in Files.app via the AudioShare File Provider plugin.

I'll consider your request of having an option for where to save recordings.

  • Yes Auditor is a good alternative: it lets you audition files anywhere and you can also perform edits when needed. I still use Audioshare as a repository, but when I need to audition files elsewhere I turn to Auditor.

Oh, i never noticed that .... thanks for the hint, will play around with that!!!

You do this by tapping the top right button (folder with arrow) after tapping to select a file to load.

No news on this. You can already access AudioShare files via the iOS Files App, just enable the "AudioShare Files" file provider in the side bar in iOS Files app. (You do need AudioShare installed for this).

Also, even without AudioShare installed, you can export individual recordings from AUM. Just long press them in the Recordings menu.

That is what I've been using lately to Airdrop recordings over to my MacMini, super handy :sunglasses:

  • Being able to Drag-n-Drop files/files from AUMs Files tab could be a nice addition now that more and more AUv3 Plug-Ins are starting to support Drag-n-Drop.

This way it would be a breeze to drag stuff created in AUM to AUv3 'samplers' and other Plug-Ins that support audio import.

I agree that would be cool, definitely something to consider for the future.
