How to use a wind controller to play Geoshred Swam sounds

Had a helpful comment from a viewer called Bonanote on this, sharing it here. The Mozaic script he used is called Midi Breath Control Translator. Gotta love Mozaic! @brambos

'I finally tried out the Akai EWI and the Geoshred and can confirm that it works. You only need to place a Mozaic Plugin between the EWI and the Geoshred , to convert Breath Control to Channel Pressure ( and ......obviously, send the info in Channel 2, which you can do from the EWi setup ). It works wonderfully, and you can assign Modulation ( Vibrato ) to the EWI Bite 1, the Growl (CC22) to the EWI's Bend Up plate, the Flutter ( CC23 ) to the EWI's Bend Down plate , and even the Formant (CC 20 ) to the EWI Bite 2. In this way you can achieve quite a good control of most the Tenor Sax sound parameters, without using extra pedals or switches ( which are quite inconvenient to move while you are playing the EWI ). ............I think we can safely say that the bottom line is : you can use the SWAM Geoshred instruments with pretty much any MIDI controller , provided you convert the Controllers output to Channel Pressure and send it over Channel 2 .'

  • The cello seems to have a lot of technique changes gated behind notes, some of which do not seem possible on an ewi usb. Certainly not so convenient. It has kept me from getting the package so far.

I have the package, and find the woodwind patches much more expressive than the string patches.

Of the wind instruments, how do you feel they differ in expression? Most likely only going to snag one of them, but still undecided.

They’re all about the same. The reeds may be slightly more expressive than the flute. Get whichever one speaks to you. I like them all, but once you start running them through guitar amps and delays and whatnot, the individual differences between the three reed models are not that big.
