Adding this here with crossed fingers – I just contacted BeatHawk support.

I often use BeatHawk with different instruments on each pad, controlled by external MIDI (so as a rompler, essentially). Each pad has a few available settings (pan, volume, filters, etc) that are MIDI-mappable, which is great. But instruments don't seem to receive MIDI CC unless they're the selected pad.*

This means, for example, that you can't modulate the parameters of two different instruments that are playing simultaneously. Huge dealbreaker for my use cases.

*Maybe this is a bug, since I have "Send To Selected Pad" turned off and it works fine for MIDI Note On / Off messages but not CC. Does anyone know if this worked at some point?

    Agreed.

I emailed BeatHawk support about this very same thing last year.
They didn't seem to understand what I was describing.

Hopefully your email will encourage them further.

Oh ok, interesting! Hopefully my message and yours together will be a clear enough picture.

For what it's worth, I heard back from the support team right away. They forwarded my message to the BeatHawk team but haven't heard back from them. I followed up recently but still no word.

@BastienCo in case the team checks these forums for bug reports, disabling "Send To Selected Pad" doesn't work for MIDI CC messages.

And now I'll stop pestering you with bug reports 😅 BeatHawk is awesome, thanks for all you do!

I use it both as AU and standalone. Used standalone, it is something I used to sketch things out. For certain things, I find it a nice compact workflow.

  • Been my most stable sampler (iPhone). Only use as AU and only have couple percussion packs. Low cpu, and with master effects, Adsr and filters mappable, more versatile than first seems. Hopefully pitch mappable in update 🤞🏻

  • Use standalone all the time. Piano roll is awesome to me except hard to see the lines. Wish I could brighten them. Besides koala prob the fastest work flow for me and midi export works great. Building an arrangement is prob the best to me.

Put koalas sampler capabilities inside of beathawk and I’d be over the moon.

  • I only use it as a sound module but I absolutely love it for that. Has maybe the best collection of sounds on iOS imo. Excited for the update!!
