Uranus / Very, Very, Far Off (edited!)
I have struggled with this track... lots of competing ideas. Mostly, I wanted to convey a sense of great distances. I think most, like myself, have this idea of the solar system being a cozy collection of fondly remembered elementary school planets. It is not! The inner, terrestrial, planets are in each other’s laps, but beyond Mars and, more pronouncedly, beyond Jupiter, things get time stretched quite a bit... as is demonstrated here....
“Solar System models attempt to convey the relative scales involved in the Solar System on human terms. Some are small in scale (and may be mechanical—called orreries)—whereas others extend across cities or regional areas.[38] The largest such scale model, the Sweden Solar System, uses the 110-metre (361 ft) Ericsson Globe in Stockholm as its substitute Sun, and, following the scale, Jupiter is a 7.5-metre (25-foot) sphere at Stockholm Arlanda Airport, 40 km (25 mi) away, whereas the farthest current object, Sedna, is a 10 cm (4 in) sphere in Luleå, 912 km (567 mi) away.”
So, my desire to express almost incomprehensible and frigid distance resulted in a rather hissy and aloof portrayal of the seventh planet out. Is this justifiable musically? I honestly don’t know.
If that had been all I came up with I would have trashed this effort. However, there is an unearthly melodic feel that keeps gnawing at me. Your opinions?
(PS, Cubasis3 really hobbled me on this one. Can’t wait for tomorrow’s update!)

Listening now Mike. Let me say in the meantime, would it be very immature of me to make a joke about your title - a joke with the word 'prolapse' in it somewhere? 😀
I love the notes, harmonies and choice of timbres. It’s only the production that is getting in the way. How many individual tracks did you end up mixing? I would love to have a crack at mixing this if all the parts are on different tracks.
Had my ears all the way through. Was reminiscent of a 60's concept album somehow.
O C'mon it's a classic

Really awesome, Mike!![ ](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/heart.png)
I think you hit the concept pretty damn fine.
Funny that one of these days I was thinking about SpaceWiz, I had it in a previous account which I gave to my nephew with my iPad 2. It seems it would fit well with your track on a conceptual level. (Although its already perfect for me
)
@Samu, you finally comment on a track and it’s this! Well, whatever it takes, I guess😘
I’ll join in the fun... and yeah, sorry about Uranus @Gavinski....
@TheOriginalPaulB, I’ll PM you about the track.
Thanks very much @ajmiller. I’ m glad it works for you.
Beautiful
It's a nice track, no question about it!![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
It makes me feel very 'tiny' and I guess that's the point when one is painting a picture of the universe in sound?
Exquisite! It definitely conveys a sense of distance. Where are you flying off to next, I wonder!?
😂😂
Just listened with a fresh pair of morning ears...
I felt like on a trip in space. It's cold out there and long distances between one thing and another. But having a warmth of hope and cozyness that the trip will go fine.
@Max23, me, too. It’s never what I expect. Thanks for listening and Happy Holidays!
Thanks for the continued listening and support, we go way back, now. @senhorlampada. I thought Spacewiz was a Rudess app? Can’t find it on Apple. Happy a Holidays, my friend.
Thanks @Samu, @ajmiller, @, @mjcouche, @Gavinski. Peaceful and happy holidays to everyone. You all enrich my life.
Sounds great! @LinearLineman
Happy to see Beathawk sounds being used. I sometimes forget about Beathawk and all of the sound packs I’ve purchased within. Thanks for the reminder!
I got that, maybe the music playing in the African reptile/amphibian exhibit at the zoo? The same track would also work for the Solar System exhibit at the Planetarium just down past the Ferris wheel on the right.
Good wishes to you and yours @LinearLineman and look forward to more of your music in 2021.
@LinearLineman Happy Holidays to you as well! Looking forward to more in 2021 and it might be time for some collaboration!
Yep... it was. It was interesting. Not sure if i'm having clouded memories from good experiences using it.
Will try rewatching some demos and try to replicate it with what we have nowadays
