iOS 14.2....cannot find thumb drive and external hard drive through USB and camera connection kit

Hi all.
Many many weeks ago...older update..could find files...as above.
Now hardly ever works...in fact only once out if about twenty tries.
In a Windows computer both my thumb drive and external hard drive can share files.
I thought this was one of the fairly recent innovations of Apple’s iOS?!
Is it to do with iOS 14.. a reversal in progress?
Anyone else had issues?
Maybe doesn’t support some older storage devices anymore for files transfer?
Terrible situation.
Thanks
IOSSOS.

  • My drives are always flaky or don’t work at all when directly connected to the CCK-3.
I can use them if they are connected to a powered USB hub, though.
They work fine, just seem a bit slower than usual.

If your USB stick is formatted with NTFS (as is often the case for sticks used on Windows), it' won't be recognized. It has to be formatted in another format such as FAT 32 or exFAT.
