I am using these programs, what would audiobus do for me that i am missing?

I have CUbasis 3 and Auria Pro. I also use FracPad III for my interface, and I use Drum session and maybe another drum plug in....Drumperfect pro eventually and rock drum machine, and maybe X drummer.....

I’m already running IAA or audio units with my plug in,but i see that they are compatible with audiobus....what should i expec to gain from audiobus “signal chaining” them

I’m just confused as to the advantage

ALSO side note: can anyone recommend METAL drum apps? Or plug ins for Auria or Cubasis?

If you don't have any current problems with your setup, why add more stuff that uses resources? I got it and AUM and all I use them for is sampling off youtube. I guess it used to be more important when proper file handling wasn't native. But I'm sure others can come up with some relevant use cases.

That is a great answer. That is kind of what i meant, if the workflow works, is there something i am missing that this does special?? I guess if you have connection isssues?

How do you use it bud?if you don’t mind

What Audiobus adds when using IAA is,

    • the ability to control the other apps via the audiobus floating palette without having to switch to the other app
    • If the IAA app implemented state-saving then you can save and restore your session
    • with auria pro, AudioBus with AUM lets you access multiout outputs as separate inputs to Auria Pro.

AudioBus would give you access to individual outs from DrumPerfect Pro (AUM not needed)

Individual outs are available in Cubasis and Auria Pro directly, without need for anything else.

  • audiobus for me keeps things in the best sync as opposed to other workflows.

  • True. It’s also a great bridge between MIDI and Link sync for apps or hardware that don’t have one or the other.

With DrumPerfect Pro, I don’t see the multiouts in either AP or Cubasis 2. Some apps’ multiouts are visible (like Elastic Drums’) but not DPP’s.

Add it to an audio not midi track. In Cubasis for instance, you change the audio source to IAA and you’ll see it.

  • @c_holdz Audiobus is also useful for creating fx chains to record into AP or Cubasis. I use this process where I have a sound source like a synth or drum machine and experiment with FX chains which I then record into one of the DAWs. It's also handy for routing audio in and out between DAWs and the syncing capabilities are useful. If you are always inside Auria Pro and Cubasis and never work outside of them then maybe it doesn't have as much use in your particular situation.
As far as FX go it depends what you're trying to do. The PSP IPAs in Auria you might find useful. MicroWarmer or oldTtimer might be useful. Stay away from the FabFilter plugs in Auria as it would be better to get these as AUv3s. I would tend to look towards AUv3s in general if you want a little more flexibility in using similar plug ins between the DAWs. Maybe something like IK Mixbox which I think is still on sale. This is all IMHO. Not knowing your circumstances and all....

  • @ehehehe pure experimentation. It was the first thing that really got me going when I first started with iPad production. I like working with audio and audio manipulation. I'm not as concerned with MIDI. It's one way of being focussed so I create the sound I want this way and I sometimes save the setup and a lot of the time I don't worry too much. I record it using one of the DAWs. My first DAW for this experiment was GarageBand which was great at the time, but then Auria Pro became my main one and then came along BM3. That way I'm committed to the sound and the feel and I move forward. Just a different way to approach creating. I don't always use this process. As time has gone on I have moved into AUM for a lot of this style of creating because I can record what I'm doing right there and then and load them in where I see fit and inspired. Just depends, but I do like to commit audio early.

Thanks for that explanation , and thanks for all the input everyone

How do you feel about the Rock platinum or the heavy drum loops in Auria? And drumagog, i keep hearing good things about that....does that somehow work with drum session or drumperfect pro?

    TY

I haven't tried any of those loops so I don't have an answer for them. Drumagog is a drum replacement program. Great for working with live drum recordings that you want to enhance or replace by being triggered by the sound you want to replace. Very basic explanation, but here's a page of features: https://www.drumagog.com/features
