strange issue with AUM and Galileo 2
@j_liljedahl (& Yonac... not sure if they are on here)
I just used AUM and Galileo 2 for the first time in a while. My AUM is still the old version, it hasn't updated, and I'm still on iOS 13.6.1
I noticed that Galileo wasn't responding to midi input, and it seems it won't play if I select a patch from the AUM menu. It doesn't respond at all and I have to reload it. Then I can select patches form the internal browser, but it fails again if I try to select an AUM hosted patch again.
One thing I tried was to save a new patch within AUM. This patch would load. Old patches still wouldn't load, but if I selected the new patch again, it would play without me having to relaunch.
So I'm unsure if this is an AUM or Galileo thing, It hasn't happened on the few other AUs I've tried, including a couple of Yonac ones.
The other strange thing was I got a message within Galileo when selecting some factory patches:
"some of the FX units in this patch are not yet unlocked, please visit the Galileo 2 store to unlock them". Never seen that before, AFAIK all the FX in Galileo were include with the purchase.
Anyone seen this or have any clues? I guess I should just reinstall it but I'm still a bit hazy on doing that without losing my patches, or possibly my 'favorites'
thx

Check the midi channel settings in the app. There are three midi channels to control the top, bottom, and bass registers. Maybe your patch isn’t using the channels you’re sending to it. Midi settings are under prefs / advanced.
Have you tried Store > Restore Purchases in the stand-alone app for the FX message?
How old is your AUM? There was an update in October (version 1.3. 8) aimed at iOS 14 issues, that might have affected AUM presets. If you're on 1.3.7 or earlier, then you predate any iOS 14 confusion.
And I'd reinforce wim's suggestion to get Galileo 2 running normally in stand-alone first.
@wim Yeh the standalone Galileo is fine. I think maybe it is related to the preset issues mentioned by @uncledave .
The problem only arises in AUM, with old presets I've saved within AUM, so I can't test those out in standalone. There aren't many presets and they 're not that great, and presets I save now seem to work... So I guess it's not actually that big a problem.
I did the restore purchases and so far have had no recurrence of that FX missing message.
Re the version of AUM, it looks like I have version 1.3.8 ... So that seems likely to be the cause I guess. Galileo doesn't look like it's been updated for quite a while. Seems unlikely the FX message would be related, but who knows...
Thanks all.
There was a bug in iOS 14 that affected many AUv3, making them not being able to load session state or presets from the host. Maybe Galileo updated to work around this by changing their state loading code, making it incompatible with the older format you saved before? I haven't changed the user preset format in AUM, actually it's not even a format at all, AUM just saves the chunk of data returned from the plugin when asking for its state.
@j_liljedahl thanks for your input. It's curious, the appstore doesn't show any Galileo updates since 2016. Though I don't know if that is a foolproof indication, or whether maybe it ignores minor updates that don't add features.
Galileo 2 only came out in June 2020. Are you sure the problem sessions and presets you're referring to were made with Galileo 2, not the older, non AU Galileo?
My mistake, I was looking up the appstore and looked at the original Galileo, not Galileo 2
However it can't have come out in June 2020, it was amongst my first purchases about a year ago when I got my first iPad after the black Friday sales. The appstore shows it last updated in 2018.
My bad ... typo.
