Fun Universal Music Apps

I’m finding myself feeling a bit burnt out on being “productive” with music. This year was really my first year putting any sort of serious effort toward music and I produced and released two albums.

While I need to take a break, I don’t want to take a break from music entirely because I love it too much. So I’m curious what apps folks might recommend that are just flat out fun to work with. Universal is a must as I am on my phone about 95% of the time I’m doing anything music related.

I currently have Endlesss and Flip in this category and I just bought Playbeat and Riffer as those look pretty fun too.

Is it like an iOS version of their Kaoss pads?

Thanks. I haven’t heard of a lot of these. I’ll have to check them out.

  • I was aiming for options. Each one clicks with different apps and workflows
    Hope you find something interesting

  • Groove Rider 16 but you need to check if it's universal. Loads of fun on iPad though.

  • Out of curiosity, what are your “productive” apps?

I’m probably going to have to get it. All I hear are great things.

Cubasis 3, NanoStudio 2, and the various apps that I use to make music in them.

  • Pure Acid is pretty fun imho. One genre pretty much, but it is very playable.

Very true. I should play around with it more to see if I can actually make something that sounds good.

    BlocsWave.

Put a load of your own loops into it and mash things together, especially combinations that you’d never usually try.

Also things like Groovebox and Figure for quick musical noodling and DM-1 for quick and easy drum loops. Export loops and stems and stick em all in BlocsWave. Rinse. Repeat.

I’ve managed to go pretty beyond acid with it at slower tempos. A beat around 93 and some swing gets some real laid back funky stuff with the blues scale

This... And I saw someone using it pretty well for ambient too

    Well shit guess I’m reinstalling.

Recent update of PA allows you to use the sequencer midi out, and the drum pattern as a second midi out. So now it’s also 2 AUv3 midi sequencers.
