BM3 random midi note muted with Audiokit apps

I’ve been having some unintended random midi note mute issues in BM3 when using Audiokit apps (mainly Retro Piano, House Mark 1 and Bass 808). As an example, I’ll program an 808 (one shot sample) bass line in BM3. I decide I want to change out the 808 audio sample with a bass sound from AK Bass 808 so I delete the audio sample from the pad and instead load Bass 808 as an Auv3 on the same pad. It will play a few notes fine and then mute let’s say the 5th midi note and the 9th midi note. Sometimes if I delete the midi note and repaint it in, it will play, sometimes not. If I select and duplicate the pattern say from 2 bars to 4, it might play all the way through the first pattern and then skip a couple notes in the second, identical, pattern. Has happened with the other AK apps I mentioned above as well. Is this a known issue with BM3, AK or both when used together? Trying to find out what gives. Interestingly, if I start with the AK app, no random mute issues, only when I swap it in to replace another Auv3 or audio sample.

Comments

  • It happens to me a lot with AK apps in general. I haven’t ran into that problem with their newer apps (although I don’t use them often) but with D1 and their other Auv3 synth. It happens in AUM for me too

  • Interesting, I love the sounds in D1 but I’ve had too many issues with tracks I put it on. The newer AK stuff has been pretty seamless as you say, just not in the specific way I mention in the original post.

  • I had the same experience with D1 (and maybe with FM player 2 as well) in Cubasis. It’s annoying.

  • I also experience AudioKit apps crash a lot more often than others. FM Player 2 crashes in BM3 a lot. They also have issues with save states. I often have to reload the preset myself to get the correct sound that was used in the saved session.

  • The newer apps do seem more stable, but this glitch with the muting notes is unfortunate, hoping someone has a workaround other than always starting with the AK synth/sound and swapping for another synth or sample instead of the other way around.
