Who misses “Music App Bog” w John Walden ?
G-d I miss that ! Even though we have new heroes besides Doug, people like “Mobile Music Pro, Gavinski ,” and “Sounds For More” it’s just not the same without Walden. He left a huge gaping hole in the ios world

I’m glad I saved a personal archive of most of his app guides/reviews before the site went down. They are some of the most thorough and well-written plugin reviews I’ve seen from any platform.
Yes!
John ran a wonderful site and sadly was unable to find a way to properly monetize it.
I loved his calm demeanor and his unique ability to gently promote the apps he truly enjoyed — while not bad-mouthing those he didn't.
He was the Mr. Rogers of iOS music making.
It seems to be pretty well preserved at the Internet Archive:

I loved reading it. And it was nice to have an alternative to videos. And his writing was damn good
That’s his blog. We’re talking about his bog.
@Eschatone : OMG that’s awesome .. Thanks!
Missing his reviews so much.
I bought my very first app back in 2012 and for the following years his reviews and ABF were my shopping guides. Thinking about it retrospectively, iOS went such long way. Still remembering the pre IAA era, and look where we are now! Big love to all the people involved in this amazing journey!
I still send him a code every time I release an app, secretly hoping it will bring him back to doing his awesome reviews
Awesome !! Love your apps!
Yup, John was always essential reading
Lol. You have a keen eye for a low-brow opportunity.
You're our hero!
Is he doing ok?
Hi All..... just so you know, reading the comments above bought a big smile to my face :-) As I think Bram knows, I still do the occasional iOS app review as part of my work for Sound On Sound magazine.... I'm still a regular user of the technology and try to keep up with what's happening. Happily (for me at least), my music production work - which was kind of why I had to pull back from the blogging - has continued to grow. Sadly (for the prospect of any further blogging), more time spent writing music means less time for writing words.... Anyway, thanks again for the warm words above.... It is much appreciated. Stay safe all....

(missing it)
Was just looking through those archives, there is a lot of quality stuff. Loved Bram Bos’s very communist flavored article about Apple, he has risen even higher in my estimation now. I’ll be back, thank you for your work John!
I miss this blog too. I found it really inspirational.
@JohnMAB good to hear your ok, and productive.
And also that you built a time machine... just checked on SOS and found this
...and it’s not good to miss the bog - it leads to some unnecessary cleaning up...
Hi @brambos,
Long time, no see - hope you're up and well!
Funny story, doing the same thing and exchanged just recently with John shortly before our Cubasis 3.2 release.
What a real nice guy, and +1 for a MusicAppBlog relaunch, while I fully understand John's reasons.
Take care everyone
& stay safe,
Lars
😂😂😂😂 Yeah this title really needs to have the spelling corrected, though I love it the way it is
