Nice ! Is it a version with usb c instead of lightning ? Thanks
no it´s the lightning port on the dongle
Interesting, these third party adapters are hit or miss. Which version of iOS are you using?
iOS 14.2
works with Behringer UCA202 as well
from console I feed the UCA's inputs with aux sends. powered iphone as external FX device, yay
There is no mention of midi support in the advert for this adaptor. Does it work with a midi keyboard controller?
They sure are. Just ditched one As the lightning plug moved waaaay to easily causing all sorts of problems with the slightest movement. Sort of put me of the idea of generics for apple without prior knowledge.
yes it does, I have just used Synth One with external keyb
Thanks - have just ordered one!
What if Apple will announce "no more ports – everything now wireless" for upcoming iPhones in +2021?
Would be cool to have an iPhone setup. But this Apple USB to Lightning adapter only allows 20mAh. I think about using an lightning to USB-C adapter (powered by DC) to run all my gear I run on my iPad setup. The question is only: how to power the iPhone with this USB-C hub? Imho it's a shame Apple doesn't make iPhones with USB-C ports.
The 5th picture in the ad says may not work if device requires over 100MAH. It also says allows 2.4 amp fast charge. Shouldn't this be enough?
Also interesting the Australian Dollar advertised price on Ali Express has gone up $3 in one day to a still very cheap $18 with free shipping.
The Amazon price is $35 plus delivery costs. I wonder if its the same product.
cooI, hope all (these) work the same way
One remark, if you would use it to send audio to a mixing console and the IOS device is accidentally removed (unplugged) while the audio cable still connected, then strange feedback like sound ( fading in its frequency) happens for a short while (the source is the adapter) - I would recommend to put the volume down at least when you disconnecting it intentionally, it's quite loud, it could even wreck your session or damage something
I ordered two similar adapters from China for using two old iPhones as send effect units for my Volca setup. The audio jacks accept mono input (mic).
Mono input almost always seems the downfall of these thingies (for some use cases anyway).
I'd go with ebay not alibaba for ordering cheap electronics stuff because paypal is likely to give you the money back if they don't work... is alibaba as customer friendly?
It's midi via usb, so any class compliant device will work. as long as it can survive on the little power the lightning hub gives out. Because the power-in only charges the phone, it's not used for the attached device, these are not active hubs, unfortunately. my midi keyboards don't work properly without an extra powered hub, the lpd-8 and some few midi keyboards might work without a powered hub.
(i also have such an adapter, mine was even cheaper and has an sd card slot instead of audio out. I have yet to try if I can use that to transfer samples from pc...
well you can't just put a 3rd ring on a trrs jack
