Apple discontinues Music Memos

What a shame, I use the app all the time to record ideas on my guitar or digital piano. Lots of my songs start off as a Music Memo

Yeah, it’s a bummer. You’d think they would add it to GarageBand. Apparently it will continue to work until it doesn’t, which could be awhile since Apple mentioned anyone with iOS 14 can continue to use it. Hopefully they have future plans for the tech...

  • Never got on with the “add drums and bass.” What did this offer that you can’t do with AudioShare?

  • One thing that this app was/is pretty good at was/is analyzing the recorded chords and tempo and even the key in which one was trying to sing in.

The Voice Memo's app currently lacks these features so it's a quite safe bet that these features will find their way into GarageBand as it's already got a quick way to do a recording from the home screen...

I like that feature, because it creates an instant arrangement that gives a feel for how the track might sound if it was finished. I don’t know of any way to do this in AudioShare.

    This.

I suppose GarageBand has Drummer to cover the rhythm side of things, but the editable chord analysis and suggested bass line will be missed😢

  • I was thrilled when it first came out, then disappointed when the results were limited and not very inspiring, then excited at the possibility this was a rough demo of a future app that would ultimately become a musical "game changer," then devastated when they announced it's demise.

I really want to love Apple, but they make it so hard...

  • Why, Apple, why?! :(

  • That is a shame. Useful little tool.

Adding it to GarageBand and Logic would be awesome! Off topic: Hopefully Logic goes mobile...

  • Hi folks...I started a little petition to Apple about saving Music Memos...why not? Its worth a shot. Please sign and share if you can. Thanks.

  • The Music Memos features will likely get embedded into GarageBand at some point...
I think we'll see at least one GarageBand update before WWDC'21 and another one before iOS/iPadOS15 drops later this year.
