Arp Odyssey ...Arp Odyssei
Does anybody have one of the hardwear Arp Odyssey incarnations whether it be the Korg, Behringer, or even an original Arp.
Is it capable of creating the sounds of the Odyssei app?
Comments
I have the Behringer, and just a couple of days ago I started trying this. I’ve only tried a couple of patches so far, and got somewhat close, but really it just showed how good the app sounds.
A friend had one in the 80s which I used to play and I had the Korg Arp Odyssey and I can safely say the Korg Odyssei app is very close and it is fabulous. IF it's still half price you should get it even if it's not AU. It really is just a great synth that and the fact it's polyphonic is amazing plus the inbuilt effects are the icing on the cake!
I used to have a Rev 1 ARP Odyssey which was great fun to play. The app is even better though because you get more presets and various versions. It is smaller...and it stays in tune better!
It sounds great. Preset management is a joke, no import or export and it's not a no-brainer because Korg still haven't managed to make it an AUv3. Plus you cannot even exchange presets between the standalone and the Gadget version. But compared to the old hardware I'd say its fine and it's polyphonic!
The iOS app is great sounding,,,,,very fiddly editing with you finger....and setting things to zero in sequencer .....probably would have bought something else instead for the price...but it’s fascinating...
Thanks fellas ... I have the app, but was/am considering buying the Behringer odyssey. I was just wondering if it’s capable of creating such a versatile range of sounds as the app!?
I could be persuaded to give you a deal on one...
Well, if you're in the US. I'm probably going to replace mine with the Behringer 2600.
The app is very good. So good I'd say pass on the hardware...
Besides neither the Barp or Karp have the tone of old ARP synths.
i pulled my old Arp Axxe out of retirement the other day ... jeez, the bass on that thing
The Axxe is fat as hell for 1 osc.
Is this app still incapable of sharing presets you made on one iPad to another?
It’s been a while since I used it. I liked the sound, but after I got a second iPad I gave up on it knowing presets cannot be shared. I don’t use Gadget and do not want to share projects that way, that is not an acceptable preset sharing option. I get that the original has no presets. I think it’s mostly just a Korg problem with most of their iOS apps having no preset share.
I have not been able to preset share, although this is a new xmas app for me. The arpegiattor is flipping my mind. That was on the OG huh, wow. Hails the arp and even if you get the hardware arp you can use both at the same time. Those sliders on a unit are so sick on the hardware. I want to share presets as well, cheer.
Unfortunately, OdysseI doesn’t have preset sharing (perhaps there is some stealth method that I don’t know of). But the sound is so good that I live with it and take screenshots of my patches.
just got it too, such an amazing synth.
i’m writing full tracks using only arp odyssei in gadget. i’lladd drum sounds from london but that’s it!
Ok yeah, I can be an analog gangster if the arps options and stuff rule this much. learning synths is fun with no presets but in the end /I like presets after learning the synth like the good old arp oddesy 2600
take screenshots of my patches.
Wonder if the settings translate to the hardware synth
Pretty close. If you track down old Odyssey patch sheets (there are quite a few to be found), I think you will find them close -- you may have to switch between the filter modes since the different eras had somewhat different filters.
