  • I played with iPad apps at church for a while. I REALLY wanted to make it work. I don't think the quality, variety, or even latency are really "there", at least it never seemed to work well enough to completely satisfy me. If I wanted a totally software-based rig I'd go the MacBook route, much more selection and truly professional quality stuff like Helix Native and Valhalla for ambient effects. But then you still have to find a good MIDI controller and you'll also need an interface. Not to mention the time to get it at all setup in something like Mainstage so that everything is working together and easily controllable. Hardware solutions start looking attractive REALLY fast.

Which iOS amp sims did you try and what buffer settings? A lot has changed in the past year.

The same here. I love all nice things I bought ( Holderness apps, TB Reverb, Blackhole, BIAS...), and they sound better than my Boss GT 100, which I am still using, but I dont find a satisfying workaround. I know I can make different setups in Audiobus (like patches), which I can load song by song. But is it possible to get different settings in the AU Effects? Song 1 needs another Blackhole preset than song 2? I try to keep it simple, without a midi controller, on sunday morning there is time enough to tap changes manually😀 I only use a analog volume pedal for swells. The easiest way to use an iPad rig are apps like BIAS FX, which offer a complete solution with all effects in a chain. You can prepare patches for sings, make a setlist, ready. Sadly they cant integrate AU.

  • Maybe someone is still following my post... Meanwhile I decided to buy the Eventide Bundles. Within the effects you can store different settings. But is it possible in Audiobus to call up these settings within the effects, or store these settings, so I can call up different combinations song by song. I know I can store different app combinations, but do these store the settings within the apps?

Can’t tell without seeing them in AUM, but if you open up the midi controls (right menu towards the bottom of AUM) for the effects there are sometimes program change messages that can change a preset up or down and then just midi learn to your Blueboard or favorite midi foot switch/ controller. I’d imagine it would be helpful to have two Blueboards, one for changing presets and one for actual guitar effects. Knowing what worship music is like, I assume you are using at least 4 effects per song.

Others here will have more experience/ knowledge.

  • Guys how would i go about adding a volume pedal into the effects chain?

For example: i like having the volume pedal inserted right after my overdrives and before all my delays/Reverbs.
If i have a Roland EV pedal to control the volume how would i configure this in AUM or Auria Pro?

I’m planning to get a midi footswitch to control effects on iPad and it has a built in pedal input to add the volume pedal. Thanks in advance!

+1 for Nembrini and TH-U. Also look at Gain Stage Vintage Clean (beautiful cleans), Nembrini Delay 3000, and FAC Alteza for reverb. For less conventional delay effects, TTOV is amazing on guitar.

I haven’t tried it yet with my Blueboard but I think you just have to map the Midi from the volume pedal to the corresponding AUM node.

    Which MIDI footswitch?

You'll probably be able to map the volume pedal to a momentary CC, e.g., 7. Then map that in AUM using MIDI learn.
