  • @EdGG i think FRMS may be more cpu intensive because it has 4 layers and many more grains available. Samplewiz 2 seems to be hardwired at what seems like 2 or 4 grains maybe… I can’t tell… Perhaps I’m using it wrong. One advantage over FRMS is that Samplwiz 2’s LFOs are polyphonic. I definitely enjoy it for its sampler engine + MPE + tweaking loop start and end interactively (hope they add these as mod destinations).

Yes, they said that you can run 6 instances of SampleWiz to one of FRMS. Have you tried it? I’m inching my way towards it, but I have never used a BLEASS synth, so I’m unsure about the workflow.

    @EdGG I suggest checking out the BLEASS SampleWiz 2 page - https://www.bleass.com/samplewiz2
There's more info there than the App Store, and videos, too.

    Here's a review from MusicTech for it - https://musictech.com/reviews/plug-ins/bleass-samplewiz-2-review

Also worth noting that @Samu seems to like it, and he's a sampler junkie and power user.

Thanks for the links! Had quite a bit of fun with the video of Lou Howard. Good vibes. Apparently the app will be twice the price after the launch, too. Worth considering!

Not sure how this got missed, but 30% off Audio Evolution Mobile Studio ($6.99 USD) - https://apps.apple.com/app/id1094758623

That's 7 bucks for a full-fledged DAW. Under 200 MB, too! Here's a thread for it where you can see the developer is no stranger to the forum.

It’s mixed in a picture with other apps around it. Thanks though.

I’m not positive but it looks like most IAPS are discounted as well. Majority only $1.99 for TB plugins.

  • Music Resources is free usually $1.99 - over 200 docs, worksheets, etc…

IMHO - Using the monetary system where you are from is totally fine, others can convert it or check on the App Store.

They just hatin' on us seppos again.

I wasn't but now I know you are a seppo I'll think about it. BTW, what's a seppo?

"Seppo is an extinct genus of spiders, possibly of the superfamily Palpimanoidea, that lived about 180 million years ago, in the Early Jurassic of what is now Europe. The sole species Seppo koponeni is known from a single fossil from Grimmen, Germany. With the scorpion Liassoscorpionides, it is one of the two only known arachnids from the Lower Jurassic of Germany."

Or a "Septic Tank" used as a rhyming slang replacement for "Yank". I believe it was used a fair bit here in Australia back in the day however it's origins may be British?

That sounds about right. Us Brits (or should I say more accurately Londoners) came up with 'Septic Tank' but like all good Cockney Rhyming, it got shortened to 'Septic'. But then you Aussies just had to go and stick an 'O' on the end and so the Cockney becomes Aussie in one fell swoop... :)

Indeed! I do love me some rhyming slang, particularly the pure Cockney stuff, with requisite Cockney accent.

Weird. I made up a cockney paragraph before.

I waltzed dern the apple and pears. Booted tha doorin. Place was a proper Rick Grimes.

Imma chick flick. Nesquik. A psycic lip.

    but you already knew Pat.

    Paaaat.

    Love it!

  • @Poppadocrock You absolutely got it in a screen grab. Apologies if it came off like a knock against you.

I just did an App Store search for Aparillo and it has no price… it just says get. It does say in app purchases. But it does not list what or how much they are? Where is this sale price?

The purchase is done as an IAP. So just look down to the IAP price, which I think is now 9.99.

    Thank you guys! Got it

Not at all, it’s all good. I was just trying to let you know it was there, with zero malice attached.

Thank you, you’re welcome, and a Merry Xmas, Happy Holidays to you as well.

I believe I already had you counted, hope that’s ok. Lol.

Aw man, I didn’t notice the price was that low on the bundles! Some of these are really large though, and I wasn’t impressed with the rock one. Are they worth it for practice, for example?

Yep, it’s quite usable for me to create quick and dirty jam tracks for guitar playing along. Never bought them at full price, however

    Whoa what a catch

The IAP for all the amps in ToneStack is $30USD (about $20USD). Anyone have experience with the guitar synth (Roxyn)?

Roxsyn is cool but it’s different. It takes any audio signal and uses it to play the synth. Lots of presets. You can definitely use a guitar, but any audio will play it. It’s good but I will admit I don’t use it that often. I think it’s more due to the amount of apps I have, then the actual app. Maybe someone else could chime in.

    Thanks!

I’m pretty sure though that roxsyn is in fact not a synth but rather a clever pitch shifter/filter/envelope follower etc. that leaves way more of the expressiveness intact over e.g. MIDIGuitar 2 + Synth of your choice. On the one hand that’s a good thing, on the other hand it often still leaves the results sound kind of guitar-ish, it leaves for example all the pitch fluctuations intact, i feel like it should be seen as an experimental guitar pedal rather than pinning it down on the word „synth“. It definitely is very cool though and can be used for much more than just guitar. I can only recommend getting it, it’s fun!

Audio Spleeter is $10 off down to $14.99

    https://apps.apple.com/us/app/audio-spleeter/id1594893048

    Is spleeter free online?

Kind of? It is available for free (or for $1 donation) as a Max for Live device here:
    https://azuki.bandcamp.com/merch/max-for-live-stem-splitter-spleeter

    And here is decent tutorial:

I always thought ‘stems’ was a completely useless producer jargon used to make them seem more important than they are. Just say ‘tracks.’ They are just the individual wav file recordings that make up a song for gods sake.

    Yeah, li’l pet peeve there

They aren't exactly the same, though. Stems should sound pretty much the same as the final mix when played together with all faders at zero. They usually include volume automation, effects, etc, and many times each stem will be a group of tracks bounced together in stereo (drums, guitars, keys,...).

True. I guess you could say Stems are the finished tracks.

Then what’s the term for a raw, uneffected, unprocessed track, ie a perfectly clean direct guitar in track that will eventually be processed?

DI, as in „recording a DI“, as in „direct input“ aka DI track?

I’m a definite fan of aphelian. It’s really cool in standalone but the Au (which is a slightly condensed version) is great for leads and bass lines. Throw chords at it, do some randomizing/tweaking and out comes your lead, or whatnot.

Does anybody have their other app oscilab and knows if it can save/export MIDI?

I would call a completely dry song with no effects (that haven’t been recorded on the way in), a multitrack.

Tracks that are fully individual (wet or dry) can also be called seps (short for separates).

Stems have both the applied effects and are usually grouped, for easy mixing.

I like pure acid’s composition function. It doesn’t seem as if GR-16 has the same ability though, ngl, the YT demo sounds awesome.

You bought the first two on sale, so the bundle is not a reasonable option for you, esp as the third item is also on sale now. 🤷
