Gadget (Zurich): "audio input is disabled"
I can't record audio in Gadget anymore? When I hit "rec" in Zurich under IOS 14.3 (both ipad and iphone), I get the message "audio input is disabled: you cannot use audio input". Tried ipad both with and without external soundcard (with a fresh powering up beforehand each time). GB works fine.
Ipad has microphone permissions listed (permissions are OK). Iphone is new, no microphone permissions for Gadget are listed, so I guess Gadget isn't trying to obtain them.
Anyone else getting this?
Comments
I see Microphone listed in Settings > Gadget 2
@circledsquare Yes, same here. iPad and iPhone, iOS 14.3.
Functioned normally not long ago. Wonder if this is caused by iOS version or Gadget version.
@ioue ?
@mojozart thanks for the reply! Yes, that is on on the ipad (under Gadget 2 settings). Sorry, I forgot to mention that in my previous post, I had indeed checked it.
BTW, the iphone (new, fresh install of gadget) doesn't even have the microphone permission as an option under Gadget 2 settings.
None of the audio recording Gadgets (Zurich, Durban & Rosario) are working for me.
(I'm on an iPad Air 2, iPadOS 14.3).
Korg better step up their Gadget game during 2021...
Funny this should come up, because I just made the seeds of two ideas a little while ago and thought, “maybe I will just focus on gadget for a while as the only iOS music thing.” I don’t usually do audio in gadget anyway but I like it as a platform, so I do hope Korg continues to keep it in the best shape it can be.
@R2 and @Samu, thanks, I guess that means it is not user error.
Yes, either it was 14.3 or it has been broken since around October (last gadget update I think)? I'm guessing 14.3 in that case, but I can't remember when the last time I successfully used it was.
(@R_2)
@circledsquare I’ve used audio without problems almost a month ago. Gadget last (minor) update was dec 18th. Maybe someone still on iOS13 can check if audio still works.
Btw, you can edit your post by hitting the little wheel
I have the problem too on iOS 13.7.
Same here on 14.2. Sent a bug report into the ether!
I’m rather disappointed in Korg Gadget’s 2020 updates, rather lack lustre.
Let’s hope 2021 will give us AUv3 FX slots, audio track, clip launching from sequencer view, arrangement view so we can record clips into, AUv3 Instrument slots, Korg Volca series as Gadgets, iElectribe Gadget, iKaossilator Gadget, Korg iDS10 Gadget, better more refined files integration that brings back the Dropbox functionality that was waaaay more user friendly...etc etc
All could be IAP’s to fund development.
These options do not appear in Settings until the app has requested them via a popup and you have allowed or denied the permission. Maybe Gadget has failed to make the request, and so is locked out of the microphone.
Thanks for the other bug reports! Hopefully Korg will react when they are back in the office on Monday (they are and were on Xmas break).
@uncledave right, that seems correct for the iphone fresh install. But i have used Zurich audio record before on my ipad, the permissions (under both privacy and gadget 2) are there and enabled, but it still gives the error message.

"Hello,
Thank you for contacting us.
We are sorry for the inconvenience.
We are aware of this issue and are working on a fix.
This will be fixed in the next update, so please wait for it.
Best regards,
KORG app team"
@ajmiller Thanks for reporting
Yeah, thank you. Sounds good that a fix is coming.
Appreciate it.
Update just landed that fixes the audio input.
Thanks @wim. Now works fine for me with both internal audio and external sound interface on ipad, ios 14.3.
It’s Monday 23rd May 2022, and suddenly Zurich won’t record any more, which is a major pain as I use it a lot for vocal samples. I’m running it on an iPad (IOS 15.5). I realise has happened in the past when Korg hasn’t caught up with Ios updates, but for it to happen now is a bit odd.
Has anyone had this experience recently and is it just a case of waiting for Korg to fix it. Assuming they know in the first place?
I just checked and Zurich records audio normally for me (iOS15.5, latest Gadget version).
Have you started a new project, or perhaps even restarted your iPad?
Thanks for the quick response. I did a hard reboot of my iPad the problem was resolved when I reloaded the Gadget2
