Poseidon synth out of tune (for me)

Hello, I've been really digging into iPad music-making over the past year and this forum has been indispensable, so thank you all for such wonderful and helpful discussion!

I recently downloaded Poseidon and Tera Synth with high hopes, and I absolutely love the sounds that are possible with these synths, but the notes are all out of tune by a half step. I can't figure out what I am doing wrong -- they are like this in both standalone mode and AUv3 (in AUM). I have uninstalled and redownloaded with the same problem. I'm working on the new iPad Air 4, and I know that there have been some issues with iOS 14, so maybe that is the problem? All the other synths I have played with are fine. I would love to use these synths in some tracks but they are unusable like this. I guess I could manually adjust the tuning every time I pull them up but it seems like there should be a better way. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  • You’re not doing anything wrong. Virsyn have several synths in their stable that do not adjust tuning for iPads locked to a sampling rate of 48khz when using the built in output. Addictive, Addictive Pro & Cube Synth have the same issue. If you use an external interface with selectable sample rate they will be in tune....

Is this when using them standalone or in hosts?

Some synths that play at the wrong pitch when the sample rate isn't what they expect, behave differently in different hosts and depending on what the host is set to.

  • @zeropoint -- thanks for the reply. I'm wondering -- I still have my 10.5 Pro -- instead of buying an expensive external interface, would it work to use Ableton Link with AUM and have Poseidon on the Pro with the rest of my setup on the Air? I haven't tried to link the two devices yet. I tested Poseidon on the Pro and it is indeed playing in tune.

@espiegel123 -- thanks. Yes, it is out of tune both in standalone and AUM-hosted AUv3. I haven't tried it in Drambo yet, but I'm guessing it will be the same?
