  • @Jamie_Mallender Glad you mention the missing input selection in the video...
I thought I'm the only one missing such basic features in a sampler :)

With 4 input channels to choose from on mu UR-242 it's only logical to be able to select Mono (1,2,3,4) and Stereo (1&2, 3&4).
Input monitoring could also become handy in some cases.(ie. iRig Mic HD on an iPad/iPhone and headphones in the 3.5mm jack if the device has one).

We'll have to wait and see where Flip goes during 2021!

    Cheers!

Yes, I was looking for the input select for a while! 😂 I was very surprised that it wasn’t an option. I thought it must be me. I have an iTrack Dock and I like to leave instrument plugged in channel 1 and mic in 2. It saves on wear and tear on the inputs not switching things over all the time.

I do think it’s a very promising app and hope for development to make it integrate better into the iOS ecosystem.

    Yepp!

The Files.app integration is really nice and that would be 'lost' if Flip went AUv3 since AUv3's can not yet directly access stuff that is 'On My iDevice' due to Apples 'facepalmed' sandbox restrictions :(

Same would happen with Koala if it went AUv3 so we can only hope that Apple eases the plug-in restrictions in iOS/iPadOS15 later this year or something.

When Flip is 'used as intended' (ie. stand alone without any external audio interfaces' connected) it works pretty well.

    Cheers!

That’s a splendid point. I wonder if that’s the reason they didn’t do it already. I don’t have Koala. Does it have any advantages over Flip?

My strictly personal opinion is that Koala os more 'fun & hands on' and also works as 'IAA Effect' for sampling in AUM :)

    (video from the dev).

The stand-alone app does have input selection for 2 channel usb-interfaces (L, R or Stereo).
As with most sampling apps a 'combination of both' plus a slicing touch from sEGments would be a nice combo.

Both are good but I tend to prefer Koala for instant gratification, start the app hold down a pad to sample boom.

    Cheers!

Oh wow, thank you for that. Looks like I’m going to have to check it out! 😂
