One day notvation (may) update the lcxl to match the rest of the launch lineup. :/

I have been hoping this for some time. :)

  • I just discovered this thread. Thanks for all the useful info! I've been sporting twin XLs for controlling AUM for years now, but never bothered to figure out the lights. I love being able to control 16 tracks like a real mixer without looking at or touching my iPad. Here's my setup in action. The XLs are mounted on either side of my desk using snare stands!

As another note, you can get the mappings done fast with the app Midisynthcontrol, so you don't even need a Mac to make AUM and LCXL work. The app (a whopping 14,99 for the LCXL module) is somewhat quirky, but it gets the job done.

To control the patterns in Step Poly Arp inside AUM, use CC 21 and change the lower pads from notes to CC 21 with Midisynthcontrol. Then sort the pad values from 0 upwards to call up the patterns from 1 to 16. Importantly, in the Step Poly Arp setting turn on MIDI control, and in AUM change the pattern MIDI CC from CC to PC to make this work correctly. Otherwise, after you call up a pattern it will jump back to pattern 1 before jumping to the desired pattern.

Here is a screenshot of the init template before any changes have been made. "Send to 1" means you can send the changes directly to slot 1 of the user templates on the LCXL. The changes are active right away so you can tweak CCs on the fly.
