app recommendation for a gate filter fx?

Not talking about a noise gate filter, rather a gate filter which change a continuous sound into a repetitive pattern which I can sync to tempo. I don't need anything fancy and don't need a sequencer or arpeggiator. I've tried using the Gate filter in Nurack FX but it doesn't work consistently. Must be AUV3

    +1
Both are great and if I remember Filterstep is ( or was ) free

  • Audio Damage Filterstation is another nice one.

  • Picked up Perforator. Just what I needed

  • Was considering getting Perforator, but I see that it is mostly used on synths and long decay things.
How does it perform on drums? Or is there a better sugestion for using gates on drums without losing any attack?

  • Gatelab by AudioModern Is free.

  • Koshiba is better than Perforator.

  • I always forget that Looperator is quite nice for various things, like filter gates...

“Better” is subjective. “Different” is a more accurate description in my opinion.

I have both. I use both. I like both. Koshiba has a built in delay where Perforator doesn’t & Koshiba has a more complex resonant filter where Perforator’s filter isn’t resonant and is very simple.

Koshiba has way more options and manipulation and is great for times when I want it to produce the kind of effect it does. But I find I use Perforator more.

“Horses for courses” as they say in the UK 👍😊

  • Flux Mini is another (free) good one. Filterlab and Gatelab are my favorites for this though. Koshiba and Perforator are really good too.
