TC-Data crashing

I'm on iPad OS 14.2 and TC-Data v. 2.2.2 is crashing. Seems to work for a little time then blips away. And sometimes it seems to crash my midi interface (iConnectMIDI2+) and I have to turn it off and back on.I guess I'm not 100% sure if the cause is TC-Data or my interface but I've had zero problems like this with other apps and the interface.

Is anyone having similar problems like this?

  • Everything you've said leads me to suspect a MIDI loop somewhere, though that also seems unlikely since I don't even think TC-Data has MIDI Input. It does have MIDI Pass Through. If this is enabled then maybe your interface is echoing the data back into TC, then to itself, etc.

I would try disabling MIDI Through first, then also check to be sure that the MIDI2+ isn't sending any MIDI to TC.

Thanks so much! I really appreciate this and it makes good sense. I didn't think about that. Pass Through is not enabled, but I do have audio coming back into the iPad from my DAW. I'll have to play with it and see. Another possibility is some glitch with my iConnect and Big Sur. Just downloaded a beta version of a OSX setup app for Big Sure compatibility.

Thanks again, now I know more what to look for!

I don't think audio coming back in would be the problem. You'd hear feedback if there was any kind of a loop going on there but it wouldn't cause things to lock up. A midi loop was only a guess. I hope it doesn't end up wasting your time.
