Picked up TwonkyBeat last night - think it's funny that it supports AudioCopy/Paste while SeekBeats doesn't for now! It even seems to cut off the proper loop length, even though it doesn't appear so at first.
I had a thread about Boom 808! - I like it and find it disappointing at the same time. Tempted to buy EGDR808 HD even though $3.99 is probably a little high for what it does and I'm afraid it's full of bugs. I have the free version and like what you can do with pitch control and the rhythm fills.
Great thread. A lot of apps I use and like in here, and some great ideas. One combo of apps that I've really been enjoying lately that I haven't seen mentioned are DrumStudio and Drums XD. DrumStudio provides the sequencer, and you use it to drive the custom kit you built from the many great samples in Drums XD. This can create some very realistic acoustic drum performances.
DrumStudio is excellent. I used pretty exclusively with the built-in kits (which allow for a fair amount of hit variation), but people do rave about its MIDI functionality.
Stochastik is one that I wish would get AudioBus. Normally, I say ACP is sufficient for copying loops, but that app (and DrumPerfect) actually call for AudioBus because you want to run a longer recording to capture the different permutations. You can export longer loops with variations, I believe, but it's still limiting. Funny thing is that I put Stochastik down, went on a rampage collecting all these great WAV samples for drums (to use in other apps), and then re-installed Stochastik and found that the dev had already included many of those free kits from the start.
I did go ahead and pick up EGDR808 HD which is the older competitor to Boom808!. I really can't say which I like better, but I think EGDR808 probably will have the edge because it has more tone control over instruments and easy-to-use fills. Some of the reviews for it are fairly terrible, but I think it's more a case of poor design decision than actual bugs. In other words, there's things like the tempo switching back to 120BPM every chance it gets, but that's an inconvenience, not a programming error.
It does allow for ACP of loops but I'm not sure they're sized/timed right. Molten Drum Machine had a similar issue where what they call 110BPM is not what MT DAW calls 110 BPM when you paste it in there. That's a big problem for a rhythm app!
I wish iMPC PRO would come out already so I can stop thinking about getting all the little Boom909 type things that I would ultimately tire of. I really hope it turns out to be all it seems to be.
How do you guys feel about the latest ThumbJam etc updates?
So, I have yet to jump on the iMPC PRO train, and I'm wondering, now that many of you have it how would you say it fares in this lineup now?
I loved DM1...tried iMPC....but I always have fun and use StrokeMachine

I tried to stick with it but... Beatmaker, you know?
It has some features BM2 doesn't have but on the whole, for what I do anyway, Beatmaker has more of what I want. I should try it again—I seriously had the wind taken out of my sails after losing stuff to the initial chop markers bug.
The only way to describe it is lovely.
Some things to keep in mind.
There are things this thing can do that you just have to see to believe.
What about ReBirth? For me as a beginer is very ok
@kobamoto, thanks, can you elaborate on what things iMPC PRO can do that are so amazing?
@syrupcore, I actually haven't ever used BM2... mostly because I'm still bitter that they gave no upgrade for the original BM users.
@Goozoon, I really loved Rebirth for the PC back in the day, up to the point that I no longer had a PC that would run the dicontinued software. Used it all the time and early on it was a core element in my commuter based production. But now that I can no longer use it on my current computer I have reluctantly left it behind. I have always been on the fence with the iPad version because Propellerhead basically just ported it over with a few tweaks, but not taking proper advantage of the iPad touch interface nor the superior resolution. Also, it seems like it would be a bit cramped and cumbersome with how they currently have it laid out. That said, it's still sitting on my wish list, and I'm sorta kicking myself for not grabbing it last week at 5 bucks.
:-) i did it, when it was on sale
This will blow your mind lol
You can have up to 64 sequences in the impc pro,
Each sequence can have up to 64 tracks,
Now for the kicker
Each sequence can have completely independent mixer and automation settings !
This includes each sequence having its own flux fx
