Floating Forward (Magellan 2 sounding like a violin and Gauss)

This is a track that continues the sonic explorations I've made last month, so the theme of "Forward" is very adequate. In all my tracks I use live improvisation, loopers and mostly one-takes.

The song started with playing acoustic guitar with Gauss, with loop decay and a really long delay time so I was basically able to improvise with myself :) Over this I layered a bass guitar part then a keyboard pad made with Magellan 2 but also flute and violin like tones in the same synth...really love the delay setting on the LFOs, it makes it really easy to simulate vibrato coming after a bit of sustain.

Also added a very simple drum pattern from Audio Evolution Mobile where I arranged and added FAC Alteza and Bandit, as well as Magic DeathEye Compressor on the tracks.

  • @Aletheia this has a nice atmosphere. There is an intensity in there that I like. I am a bit of a fan of generous reverb. It's got me thinking I need to revisit Magellan 2.

Thank you! Definitely revisit it, it has some really unexpected surprises. I try to do myself a habit of only using a synth at a time and try to get more proficient at it. In the past months I did this with Continua, now I am at Magellan 2.

  • Beautiful, how was the video made? Never thought Magellan could make those sounds.

Thank you as well. There is a free video editor on https://vizzy.io which takes your audio as input then you select from a number of reactive things.

It does have a slight learning curve as at first you see loads of parameters but there are presets and just tweaking some of them can get you something nice really quick.

  • @Aletheia , very nice . personally I think I would have preferred it without the ‘drums’ but some lovely sounds and I liked the guitar a lot.

  • Very nice! Love the guitar and overall ambient vibe. Cool video to boot!

Maybe you are right, I just had the feeling that it dragged on a bit so I felt like adding a part. But maybe I could have given them a bit more thought.
