Do You think that it could work for us - ios music community?

“ANote Music is the institution that connects investors with owners of Music Rights. Sellers are willing to give up future streams of royalties to collect upfront money. Investors are buying into long-lived assets with considerable growth prospects and low correlation with the economic cycle. While organizing the T&Cs of each offering, ANote Music audits financial and legal information and performs a thorough sanity check. The rights from each catalogue are then offered to investors in an auction system. If the auction is successful, shares are delivered to the bidders, and, from then on, traded under a traditional stock-exchange model (bid-ask prices). From a technical standpoint, ANote Music acts as the exchange operator/clearing house (connecting, filling orders and distributing dividends). ANote Music displays information and statistics (past cash flows, views, followers, number of downloads etc.), thus enhancing the value-discovery process. On a continuous basis, the platform gathers the stream of royalty payments through partnering IMEs and distributes it to investors as dividends.”
After a quick look.
Basically they’ll get investors to buy and auction catalogues from Artists that sign up to them.
A catalogue has got to be active for three years minimum.
The Artist forgoes their rights for an upfront fee.
If a track or catalogue is successful the Artist gets royalties.
It looks like a normal record company/publisher deal only online.
For the entire iOS community?
As the iOS platform is focused on developers and users
rather than being a label I’m not sure it would work.
Still, dependant upon the needs of a individual Artists?
It could work.
I sent it to someone who is an actual music publisher.
Don’t touch it.
Behind ANote music and its start - Marzio Schena interviewed by Emma Griffiths pimion.com
An interesting interview with co-founder Marzio Schena:
https://www.synchtank.com/blog/behind-the-launch-of-anote-music-the-european-marketplace-for-investing-in-music-royalties/
I also found themusic.fund - not sure how it works though.
Btw, is the TapTape platform still alive? Seems their website is down.
If your catalog is worth anything, folks who want to make money off it will come out of the woodwork regardless.
If you want to invest in future royalty potential, you’re better off investing in one of the companies that have lucrative artists, like Universal Music Group or Hipgnosis Song Fund.
