  • Hmmm
    Cheap
    Do I need it ?
    Not sure yet

  • Says “Pre-order” in the apps store. What does that mean? It’s there but it can’t be downloaded?

  • Comes out 19th
So it is a pre order price

  • Is there anywhere I can actually hear it?

  • So, is there even a remote possibility that D1 and FM Player will get the same 'improved' AUv3 update?
This app seems to be more like a 'sample expansion' for the previous apps :)

Thanks. What a weird demo! 😂

I’ll probably buy it though. 2.99 is worth it even if I only ever use one of the sounds in a track.

  • Right now
2.99 is cheap for an app
But these are damn tough times
Buying my son or daughter a hot chocolate while out on a walk, that small smile is more important right now than buying more synths, to add to an ever growing collection
If you have the money go for it

Both of them definitely need to be updated!

    Yup

  • Releasing new apps without fixing the old ones, a feel very similar pattern to R' and iMP*...

Sure, they need to fund the stuff too so I get it and it's more fun to release new apps and see how many will catch the bate :)
(But the reputation will suffer in the long run).

    Cheers!

  • If anyone is interested I’ll be demoing it tonight at 8.00 pm U.K. Time

  • Bought to support Audiokit team that has done a lot for this music community.

I’m curious to hear it in action in your live @thesoundtestroom

    What's it sound like?

  • edited January 2021

Audiokit guys have their heart in the right place. But after the 909 fumble, it seems a teensy bit ballsy to offer a discount only for prebuy! Like, why would you prebuy an Audiokit app when the last one is still not fixed?!

  • I'll hold my horses on this one to see if it's a buggy mess like some of the previous releases.
Doesn't matter if it sounds good if it fails when actually using it...

    Cheers!

I don’t think the intro price is only for pre order, at least that’s not how I read the blurb on the App Store...

  • From the Youtube comments section:

"The D1 is a much more complete system, with access to an extensive modulation matrix, etc. It is much more of a 'synth.' The D2000 is more of a sample player, featuring a new set of samples not included in the D1. I hope that helps."

The previous LE apps retained their price when they went live so no 'pre-order discount' this time (at least I hope so!).

Will wait for reports on how well it works with the different hosts before even considering getting it.

    Cheers!

Good point. Sentiment still stands, but I'll adjust the original post.

  • So this seems more in the vein of the sounds of Y2Kish workstations like the Triton, Motif, Fantom rather than the deluge of virtual analog synths from that time?

Nice fix, not sure if I should try and fix the quote in mine 😆 I’ll probably not pre order on the same principle...

  • Another one ? Already having pure synth, FMtines & org 2021. iPad is almost full.

  • Seems stable for Doug, and based on his demo so far I just pre-ordered it.

  • I've pre-ordered as well...
(And freezing seems to be an issues, but there was some assurance that they would work with Cubasis team to fix it).

  • I had lots of fun arguing with people who insisted the 909 app was sample based. Can we have one now where people insist this one is a synthesizer and not a rompler?? :D B)

I saw that, but don’t think I would consider that a major issue. Who knows, CB3 has had some stability issues, so it might even be an issue on the Steinberg side.

This one is definitely a 'rompler'(ie. you can't edit or add new samples) with some synthesis/sound-shaping features (ie. a filter & effects) B)

Then again I would love to have 'classic' rompers a plenty on iOS/iPadOS.
I mean most had like what 1-2MB or ROM so I could fit an entire decade of synths on a small iPad.

    Here's one 'rompler' (Roland U110) I'd love to have as a multi-out AUv3 :D

'Konwörtercrunch' is a quite nice word to describe digital artifacts.

    Cheers!

    Yup

AudioKit we are waiting for it impatiently!
FM player and D1 would become quite important players in my stable as soon as they will get the powerful AUv3 code upgrade. I can even pay extra for this.

    Sorry but
Whoever is hesitating to pay a few bucks to support AudioKit team for their work, does not deserve their apps. Not mentioning how low the prices are. Those developers are driven by passion. Do not kill it.

Humm ... maybe I'll buy it and just remove the install. :D

I'm actually kinda serious. The $$ price is nothing to me. The 200mb for a rompler I probably don't need and will likely rarely use is another matter. Love the Audiokit guys/ideal, so maybe I'll just consider it a "donation".
