Appreciate it. That process does allow me to record into GarageBand, but the same issue occurs, the waveform is totally flat and it doesn’t actually record the data. Here’s a recording:
That's really strange. Your process looks the same as how I record successfully every time. Sorry, I'm out of ideas.
@uncledave - no, I'm using audio recorder, not sampler. I am on iOS 13 though, so I'm probably not the best person to help troubleshoot here. I thought I'd at least give it a shot though.
At this point, I think I'd do my best to back up my GarageBand work and then uninstall / reinstall. First I'd try the "reset GarageBand" option in iOS settings though. Or ... just simplify and host the apps directly in GarageBand.
Appreciate all your efforts. It does just seem like my GarageBand (or phone) is jacked up, since I’ve already uninstalled/reinstalled a few times. Maybe it’ll resolve itself with an iOS update or something. Take care.
Damn. Would you like me to report all this to my contact on the GB team, see what they say? Chances are they may be as mystified as the rest of us, but they might have an idea.
Thanks for everyone's assistance, it is finally working. I reinstalled both GB and AB3, but I think the issue may have been that I didn't have an option called "Use With Music Apps" turned on in the Advanced Settings of Garageband. I can't imagine that I did that on purpose, so I'm wondering if that's the default setting and I somehow missed it. That option is NOT present when GB is connected to AB3, so that might have contributed to me missing it too. At any rate, it was something dumb I was missing, and I apologize for wasting people's time and expertise. Thanks again, and hopefully next time I post it will be something more creative and interesting.
Wow, if true then that is a great find! You shouldn't apologize. You uncovered something that would undoubtedly come up again. In fact, I have a nagging memory that it has, and everyone gave up then too.
I'm tempted to do some testing to see if I can reproduce that.
Aha! That's great. I think that may be an iPhone-specific option, because I don't see it on my iPad with iPadOS 14.3 and GB 2.3.10. Might be related to privacy/security, since the phone is used for communication. Good find; too bad it took a while.
Very glad to hear it! I passed your discovery onto the GB team.
