iPad interface - what’s do you use?
Wondering what interfaces people are using for iPad with lightning socket that supports midi and audio.
Wondering best way to connect to Focusrite 18i20. So I can use midi keyboard too for iPad. And have best audio quality

CCK3 (Apple Camera Connection Kit 3) and a USB hub will work for any USB-based use case. For a lot of cases, just supplying power to the CCK3 will charge your iPad and power many bus-powered MIDI devices. If you need more, apply power to the USB hub instead.
I'm not sure why you're asking about an audio interface to connect to the Focusrite though. Just use a USB-A to USB-C cable and Robert is your mother's brother.
I need to connect the iPad to 18i20 and keep the 18i20 connected to Mac. Then I want to be able to connect a midi keyboard so I can drive AUM etc on the iPad but have the audio go to 18i20
Is the audio quality better out of the usb or is the headphone output the same? I have a single usb on the 18i20 but need to connect the iPad and the Mac.
I am almost 100% positive that is not possible. I wish it were. You will need to get another interface and have it send audio to the Focusrite via audio or SPDIF. I have the 18i20 and wish I could do that, as well.
I have a Zoom u24 (wouldn't buy it again, it's not bad, but to limited) that is attached to the iPad for audio and MIDI. The audio IO of that goes in and out of the 18i20 for sending audio to and fro. I also have my MIDI in coming from a MIDI patchbay and my MIDI out going into a Blokas MIDIHub to merge various controllers.
Yeah thinking the Arturia Audiofuse for the usb/iPad/midi then output from there to the 18i20
There can only be one USB host, either iPad or Mac, and iPad will only connect to one USB audio interface at a time.
Yamaha PSR E453 keyboard acts as BOTH audio and midi controller
NOVATION AUDIO HUB. ONLY AND FOREVER
although, the way I understood from previous posts, if you connect an interface that has only outputs, like a dj turntable, you can use one interface for inputs and one for outputs.
I wrote a long answer to apparently the wrong question linked below. It's about IDAM, Studiomux and midi input. You may find it useful as it contains some info on how to route midi from keyboards / controllers attached to your desktop to control things on your iPad and then send the iPad audio to the desktop (so just using one audio interface and keeping everything digital).

I use a Behringer USB mixer connected to a powered USB hub so that I can get the audio output from hardware into the mixer too.
I use two Roland Duo Captures. Discontinued I think but still working great on latest iOS. They sound great to my ears. If it can be picked up used at a good price, may be worth it.
Audient EVO 8. Just got it and it works great. I love that I can control the volume of the interface using the volume buttons on my iPad
So iPad/keyboard—>audiofuse—>18i20–>MAC
I’m already using the digital in on the 18i20 for something else. Not sure I can go out on audio fuse to 18i20
