Severe and sudden clipping using Audio Damage PanStation

I have had a weird and really serious problem with this app. I have reported it to Audio Damage, they couldn't reproduce. I want to ask if others have experienced this, and if so, please contact Audio Damage to tell them.

This describes the problem: Just now I was using Panstation as an insert FX on a channel in AUM to pan some audio. The audio was very low volume, maybe -10db. I was flicking through Panstation presets to find a suitable preset. Suddenly there was a massive glitching noise from Panstation that threw the AUM dB meter well into the red and made me take off my headphones immediately - yes this is the kind of thing that can completely destroy a good pair of headphones. The AU itself crashed. I reloaded it and tried again but it didn’t happen again.

So anyone had anything similar?

Was there possibly a crash log at the time, from either AUM or the AU?

Maybe you should start using a limiter on the mixed output, just for protection.

Yes I managed to reproduce just there.

    • Added Panstation into an empty AUM set, clicked around on a few presets, nothing. Turned iPad volume down v low.
    • Added Egoist to same channel, tapped around the PanStation preset list.
    • After changing presets 30 or 40 times or so, loud click on both channels, VU meter roughly +5, AUv3 crashed.

  • Thank you! Please more people try this, and anyone who can replicate it should please email AD to make sure they take this seriously. Thanks again @craftycurate

No worries - will send an email.

Update: Noticed that the AUM audio was no longer working after PanStation was removed. I had to force quit and restart AUM in order to get any audio.
