Personally I LOVE the ads - they're the best bit!

    Duuuuuude...

My iPad Air 2 would 'die' if I put those heavy apps on it so good luck to all those who enter to win this time around :D
(I've tried the demos and they make my iPad crawl, ie. pretty unusable and too heavy on the CPU).

Really? I find one or two instances work fine on my Air 2, more would be overkill with this synth anyway.

PPG apps I will keep as they can no longer be re-downloaded.
PlugInAllience bought Wolfgans IP's and have no intention to maintain the iOS/iPad apps and that kinda sucks...

    Cheers!

That PPG thing still baffles and infuriates me in equal measure. The apps are an excellent reason to keep a frozen iPad around for.

  • MacProVideo has a Aparillo course. It's also pretty nice.

I’m going to join the battle. As the old saying goes, “Statically, I’m here to lower your chances to win”. Yeah I’m that evil. >:)

  • The sound of Aparillo is always described as lush, full of textures and landscape. So sometimes I use it as some kind of weird reverb(background sound to be precise) behind a thin lead sound like AD Phosphor3.

    1. I would send a sparse single-note sequence to midi fx which would add lots of ratchets.
    2. Send these dense notes to two destinations: one is Phosphor which is lead sound, the other is another midi fx which would block about 70% of notes.
    3. Send those filtered notes to Aparillo. Personally I would use unison mode for a richer sound.
    4. Lower the volume of Aparillo, then send it to a wet reverb. Increase the Amp release of Aparillo to blur and blend into the background better.

Phosphor and Aparillo are two drastically different synth. One sounds ultra-thin and the other sounds ultra-rich. But they really fit for each other.

And it seems like I found a bug of Phospor3: when being fed with a dense note seq, sometimes it wouldn’t produce any sound after a few minutes.

  • I have all of sugarbytes :D :D

  • I saw a Gavin's comments at Appstore many times before, but didn't relate him to you. :D But it is you. B)

Unfortunately I rarely have the chance to write reviews any more, as I now mostly get apps for free, and you can't review an app you got with a code, but yeah, I try to support the devs the same way I ask regular viewers to support my channel, what goes around comes around, fair is fair etc. Same goes with comments and likes for other youtubers. 😉

This sounds very interesting by the way. What is the 'midi fx' app you are referring to in the first step?

  • So having watched my fair share of the ads, can you do Factory next? :-)

Tom Cosm's Youtube videos on Factory are a great starting point while you're waiting :)

StreamByter. Use script language. Support AUv3. And it's totally FREE.

  • I’ve barely been here a week or so and have Aparillo, Drum Computer, Factory. Effectors looks interesting as does Ego but looks. Little too crazy and not too sure how I would actually use it.

I love Tom Cosm's vibe and he is really a true synth expert, but I hope they are slower paced than his Aparillo videos, which are inspiring but go way, way too fast in most parts.

Ah yeah, I have it but have only used a few times. I either forgot or didn't know that it does ratchets, will definitely be taking a look at that, thnx

They are fast, to the point, but also highly concise, and every word counts, which works for my ADHD brain which can often absorb technical info very quickly. DaveyPoo is another good example of that punchy quick style.

I often get frustrated if a tutorial is too slow, or unfocused and rambly. But a gentler paced tutorial is great too as long as it's quite focused. There's at least one iOS Youtuber whose videos I enjoy a lot better at 1.5x the speed :) But that's just me.

Sure sure, I also speed some people up and I'm sure some ppl would prefer my vids sped up. We're all different, hence the need for different youtubers with different styles.

2 watches, nice one. This is definitely one that is worth a few views to grasp everything I reckon, yes. And Factory.... I certainly will do it at some point Nick, that is for sure.

That’s good to hear. I always think of Factory as being in the same general box as Aparillo, and with both of them I haven’t really explored them to their fullest extent.
