Koala nor Samplr writing to audio in Cubasis 3

I had the same issue hosting BM3 in Cubasis 3 which is a shame as it worked nicely in Cubasis 2... I should try it again in C2 actually just to see if it may be OS level rot. Probably just C3 though, but (?)...
I try to avoid IAA as much as I can...
Don't know if the coming iPadOS14.4 update will fix anything but I'll try when it drops.
When I use Koala I usually export the loops as audio and import to Cubasis when needed.
It's pretty straight forward as it's possible to dump the files directly into the Audio folder in Cubasis.
Have not tried he AudioBus route yet (ie. host Koala in AudioBus and record the audio into Cubasis that way).
Hopefully it will not take too long before Koala gets an AUv3 treatment...
Some IAA apps work better if started outside the app before they're added to it. BM3 is one that must be loaded first before trying to added to any other app. Others will have audio issues like you're seeing if loaded first, and work better if they're not running when you load them into the app. You might want to try force-quitting Koala and Samplr, then reversing however you were doing it before. (Oh and the obligatory "have you tried rebooting?")
... Oh wait a sec. I seem to remember something that tracks with no MIDI clips don't freeze. If you don't have any clips on the tracks, maybe try adding an empty clip on the track for the duration that you want to freeze. That may not help, but is easy enough to try.
I think @wim is right that with those apps, you need to record the audio rather than expect them to render when freezing or mixing down.
I've tried all the 'workarounds' I know (create empty events, load in various orders realtime, non-realtime etc.) and come to the conclusion that it's Cubasis 3 that is failing since as all other IAA hosts record audio perfectly from Koala...
Most of the time the response from Steinberg regarding IAA issues seems to be 'contact the developer and ask them to add AUv3 support' or something along those lines.
Oh well, it's still early 2021 and anything can happen...
For now I'll just export the patterns from Koala and import them into Cubasis when needed.
I've not checked yet if 14.4 brings any IAA related fixes but I'll check after I get some coffee.
But it could be a Cubasis issues since I can record audio from Koala via IAA to other hosts.
Adding AudioBus to the mix would only complicate things since you'd need to create a midi-track feeding Koala and then create and Audio Track to record the audio coming in from AudioBus...
I can get it to work with Cubasis 3.2.1 and iPadOS14.4 installed but there's a weird 'fade in' on the frozen track?!

I also had to send one midi note from the Cubasis time line to get it to work in order for the pattern to get recorded.
After that I could remove the note and the pattern froze properly but with the strange fade-in...
I launched Koala first before making the connection to Cubasis but both ways work (ie. letting Cubasis launch Koala).
Hopefully Cubasis will get a proper built-in sampler soon
Nope, but I’ll check later.
I’m running a Koala beta so it could have some other fixes too not yet present in the store version.
Hi @Samu
This is slightly off topic but is your Koala beta working in AB? Having my current version in a midi slot is causing crashes (but only after a few minutes...?). Thanks
I've mainly tested Koala a stand-alone and with AUM and other IAA hosts using Koala in 'Slide Over' mode...
...really don't see the point of using AB at all when the hosts have direct IAA support, for me AB just 'gets in the way' of getting things done. I'm not dissing AB as a concept but for me it's honestly way, way past its 'best before date'.
I'll give it a spin in AB later today in 'split-screen' mode. That's about the only advantage AB has over AUM for now
Cool, many thanks.
