Free Apps
Hello, can someone provide me a comprehensive list of which of the compatible apps are free, just so I can get my feet wet with this. Also will an ipod touch be sufficient for production?

Yes GB has everything.. You can learn more about Pete John’s Studio Live Today YouTube channel esp for GB users
The esteemed @jakoB_haQ goes through 25 free apps here:
I wonder why Jakob hadn't mentioned Korg Gadget LE. Not only a free drum machine but also a very capable monosynth plus a good "rompler", combined with a pattern based sequencer that can even sync to MIDI clock.
And let me add the apps by Blamsoft Inc, Neon Silicon, Haruku Mitsoshita and Audiomodern Filterstep.
How I originally found a bunch awhile back was by going to the Audiobus apps page and clicking on on every app I saw, except for ones I already knew cost money. I found a bunch that way.
You can also search appsliced.com
Here I searched all iOS app sales, filtered by Free apps only, it has 20 pages of apps that have dropped in price to be free. Happy finding.

Many of the Sugarbytes apps are available to demo with full functionality (except saves and AUv3). See Drum Conputer or Aparillo for example.
James Milton’s Poly 2 is also available for free demo.
Imaginando DRC is another good one

You can further Filter the results to only show AUv3, effects, instruments, etc.
That’s a good way too...
You also find a classified free music related ios apps list in the audiobus forums wiki.

It's hundreds of euros worth of eurorack modules ported to ios for free!!!
+1
Those things are amazing once you start to tweak them.
Very true, several synths and FX included
AudioKit Synth1 if not already mentioned.
Very helpful. I hope I can make use of all of them free or paid, but I'll do the filtering thing for now. And yes Garageband is a must, it will be my main output DAW. Glad my little ipod touch 8 can suffice, I like the idea of a pocket studio. What though is the deal with Logic Pro? It wants me to use an actual mac for that. I dont like mac's personality, but I love iOS mobile though.
