I took a pre-concert masterclass with Snarky Puppy a few years back and jammed 'Thing Of Gold' with them on an ethnic instrument (Khomus).
Was awesome! I couldn't believe how fast they got onto the key of the instrument. Asked me to play it, then pretty much instantaneously the trumpet player said "B .. 2, 3, 4" and they were in. Took place in literally the duration of a single second and the entire band nailed it effortlessly in the new key (the original key is D I think).
Haven't tried it myself, but I'm fascinated that they made an astronaut one. Also curious about Danny Elfman's, which might be more practical.
