Is there a way to reposition a sample?

Sorry if the title sounds daft. I have been using Nurack with SloMo and vocoder/talkbox on midi instruments. The new samples created with enso sound wild, the only problem is that the transients when load into Jammpro are out of synch. Is there an easy way to fix this? I have imported them into AuriaPro and then glued 2 of the same sample togther this way I can refix the starting transient but this is a long process which in the end drains my creativity. I simply want to drag the sample to right start point retaining the whole sample as if it were a complete loop like a rubber band. I hope my request makes sense and that there is an easy solution. Cheers guys in advance.

  • If I understand you correctly, you'd like to be able to nudge sample forward and have the end of the sample wrap around to the beginning. Or nudge the sample backward and have the beginning wrap to the end.

That doesn't sound daft at all. In fact, an editor with that kind of feature would be killer. Unfortunately I can't think of any that work that way.

Is it an option to record a longer sample than you need? If so, you could start recording say, one measure before and stop one measure after the part you want. Then just slice the beginning and end and reposition the sample where you need it.

Other options I can think of are no less labor intensive than what you've already figured out.

  • Oh, wait! Do you have Loopy? If you do then you're set. Import the sample, twist it around so the beginning is where you want it to be, export, and you're done.

Yes NUDGE! Come on devs nudge is what we need it seems so simple when you say it.
I have loopy and I will try that. Thanks Wim

Does Koala or Flip have nudge?
    Cheers

  • Koala doesn't have it.

Nudge isn't a great way to refer to this. Nudge can mean just moving a sample forward or backward. It's the wrapping that is unique about this request. It makes total sense as something almost anyone could make great use of.

Ye that is what I want. Importing into Loppy is a pain, which is a shame.

Not a pain to me. But I have a pretty high pain tolerance when it comes to stuff like that.

You could also record straight into loopy, then export if that seems easier.

The solution in a sample editor is to select the portion that you want to move to the end, cut to the clipboard, move the insertion point to the sample end and paste then export the result. You can do this in Twisted Wave, Auditor or any number of other apps with a lot less fuss than in Auria which isn’t designed for quick and easy file editing.
