Nice! Just last night, I was browsing sample packs for hand pans. I love the sound.
It's a nice IAP for $4. I haven't been able to drive it from another MIDI source yet. If anyone
has a tip on that I'd appreciate using it as a sample player for this and other excellent Drum samples. There's a new $5 Cajon worth considering as well. It has a decent piano roll sequencer for making your own patterns and songs. The presets are good.
Just direct the MIDI to DPP’s virtual midi port on whatever channel it is set to listen to. It is set to listen to channel 10 by default.
Thank you for the clue. Channel 10 from the General MIDI standards.
I learned that you need to HOLD down on "MIDI Destination" and you can change set up for input Channel(s) and CC targets. Once I had MIDI Generator
channel and Destination aligned it worked using the MIDI routing for the app
in AUM.
@McD
Very cool 😎
Sweet. Actually bought DPP because of these. A bit pricey compared to other drum-apps but it seem solid, albeit a bit odd.
For programming/sequencing realistic drums, it is the best option on iOS though it has a serious learning curve.
Thanks for the comment. Much appreciated.
@McD thanks for sharing your track "Irish DNA"! Lovely arrangement, very soothing in those chaotic times.
@McD really nice t listen in the morning as I just did. Just pushed repeat
Yeah, it sounds awesome and it has cost me quite a few hours just to understand to make a song (premade patterns) and connect the player to AUM. Now when I'm there it feels like I climbed a mountain. There's a real lack of good tutorials on this one. Saw a couple of videos by this guy Reid, who in the middle of the series gave up and said "nah I'll make my drums with something else.. something user friendly .." That says something about the learning curve ..
That was really quite excellent, McD!
When I first saw the handpan IAP announcement, I knew it was just a matter of time before someone on the forum created something cool with it. It was no serprise that you would be the one.
I've had DrumPerfect Pro for months now a get a headache every time I open it. I give Reid credit for trying, @Pxlhg. At least he got further alone no than me! I remember the developer posting a number of user instructions here on the forum. Perhaps I'll dig them up the next snowy day this month and give it a go. The Handpan IAP hopefully will be the inspiration I need.
Looking for a drum app, I appreciate there are loads out there, but anything similar to DPP worth considering for the more realistic sides of things, i.e. not 808 stuff etc.
A bit of a stretch to claim this as your own. This is the HP1 Jig Demo song, with a few added elements.
If you know how to construct/write drum parts, I don't think there is anything else that will let you program drums that sound like they were played by a drummer on iOS.
Learning it involves some time investment, but I don't think anything else on iOS will get as close to sounding like it was played by a drummer as this.
Yeah, I didn't mean to put any shade on him or his efforts but I can admit it was a bit annoying when in video 2 (I think) he jumps off from explaining song creation and say he'll explain it later .. he did not I did learn some tricks from the ones he had posted.
True. I edited the title to disclose the Jig Demo source material and added "Jig" loop to the description. I was hesitant to use the word "Jig" but that's no excuse.
I'm also glad I have since been able to unlock the MIDI in to create my own patterns.
I'll send any money I make towards additional DrumPerfect Pro IAP's... there's a lot of them.
It's like BeatHawk.
Drumjam has some nice ones. You can't change the scales though--pitch only.
Good tip... I found one and it's great. Are there more in the IAP Packs?
Hand Pans respond well to Riffer MIDI sequences.
Is Hand Pans a IAP for Drumjam or DrumPerfect or both? Trying to decide which app to go for. Not particularly after hand pans (though would be nice).
I looked just now. In my DrumJam pads I have two Butones, one Garrahand, and one hang.
Both apps have hang. They are very different apps though. DPP is for people who want to spend a lot of time programming realistic grooves. DJ is loops only, but very hands-on and playable. DJ is one of the two or three most fun apps for me.
DrumJam and DrumPerfect are radically different apps. DrumJam is a highly playable instrument designed for live playing. DrumPerfect is a drum sequencer designed for sequencing realistic drum parts.
