i think he was submitting it for a review, so i guess it’s gonna be very soon

That’s not accurate, just wait, release date not yet fixed. 😉

Is that a subliminal way of telling us that you're already working on a video for it? :D

It's not even ready for beta testers like me yet, so hold on to your horses lol

I do wonder how the multi-out works, can we 'pre-group' channels to show up at one selectable output?
(for example hi-hats in one output group, toms in another, claps & percussion in a third etc. etc.).

Considering the 'screen clutter' it would create in AUM with 16 tracks I'd say it's a MUST.
(In my very humble opinion AUM is long overdue for an optimized screen layout).

Hopefully the manual/user-guide pop's up soonish...

“In general, use the gain in parsimony, to avoid any excessive levels that may damage your ears or your system.”

    Parsimony it is!

I’m going to have fun with this app. 👍

aum really needs an update with groups and a better channel management as a whole.
and drambo (which i prefer) needs a recorder.

Really want to know if the sample player allows different sample zones/slices. I've become entirely accustomed using a single wav comprising of multiple single hits. Assigning each hit in the wav to a separate zone allows either round robin playback, triggering the zone based on velocity, or random zone playback. IME, it's the best way to take advantage of a single sample slot. Same concept for loading a breakbeat too.

It's 1s per sample and one sample per instrument slot, all the specs are on the linked page.

Don't know how I can fit crash-cymbals, rides etc. into 1s but that's another story :D

I’ve wanted to build my own Neil Peart-like drum kit in GarageBand forever. Would be terrific if we could fill out the toms and cymbals of a standard kit and just really customize to our own style.

Now, it’s not clear how these drums are triggered. It does not look like there are drum pads which would allow tapping to play in the app… Is this correct? I would not want to have a kit I could only trigger with a keyboard.

You could always chop the crash/ride up and throw it on like four pads haha. I actually do something similar to that if I need a chord to last longer than the sample is

  • I do wonder what sample-rate FAC DrumKit's 1s limit is calculated for?!(44.1k, 48k or maybe even 96k...).

I could do cross-fade loop on the sustain portion but from the looks of it it's 'one-shot' only.

Oh well, I'll hang on a bit before the pre-order period ends...
(Hopefully there will be some preview videos to watch before taking the plunge).

Dude, you know you're going to buy it...

  • Parsimony and the unique sober look are back!

The 1s sample limit is a very small downer, but my more pressing issue is what AU drum sequencer is out there that actually has 16 instrument lanes?? As far as I know, all the decent ones are 8. I get chaining together two, but it just doesn’t feel organic when the sequence is broken up, and simultaneously switching sequence numbers is an issue as well.

Most likely yes but there's a bunch of other apps coming that fight for my cash already...

  • The clap sounds awesome though!

  • I wonder how sample management will be. I hope it's a folder accessible via Files. Importing samples into separate sandboxes is getting harder between apps. Either way, I'm still buying it, of course.

    Sample expansion kits would work.

  • With flexible envelopes, fm and multiple waveforms samples are likely not the primary focus of the app...

you just add any folder on your device to any channel and after that you can switch freely between samples in that folder. you can add different folders to different channels.

This is true. I will definitely go nuts with automation on this with the synth engine, but this looks like an amazingly flexible drum sampler as well.

Interesting, that could work. Can you modulate between samples in the folder using automation? If so, we are FAC blessed.

there’s a manual trigger but it is used for a sound preview of sorts.

  • Any one know if the iPhone version has a portrait mode, or is it locked to landscape?

at the moment unfortunately no, but i think FAC is going to add more parameters for automation in future updates. you can automate preset changing on the other hand and it is quite deeply integrated feature (you can assign specific cc, notes or pc to each preset).
