  • That’s good bassism, Dave. Always relaxing to spend time with you. That was a major effort. Thanks, bro.

Thanks, Mike. Since I am typically later to release videos than my colleagues, it is often difficult to offer something different/unique. This seemed a Herculean task, however in the end it's less effort on my part to do the talking and more effort on your part to stick it out to the end!

Glad you enjoyed it - looking forward to seeing what this baby can do.

  • Great concept and big thanks for it @Daveypoo

  • Epic video! It really is a powerhouse. There are a few omissions though, such as no octaver, and a shimmer would be nice too.

I would say that this could do with a couple less compressors/EQs and a few more specialty tools, but at a certain point that's just splitting hairs. You could certainly use this for 99% of your post-processing needs without any issue.

There's another omission that kept me away from buying MixBox : it's the lack of a tuner.

Totally agree - I bought it within 24 hours of it being released, and it leaves room for others to provide the specialist tools.

This is a good point - while making this video I wondered why they didn't include one. For an app that's so guitar-heavy with the effect choices, I wonder why they skipped the tuner?

But yeah - this covers all the standard stuff, leaving us the ability to reach for all the other iOS goodies we've been stockpiling to make it even better.

  • @Daveypoo love the effort and the new (to me) face-doo

  • Cool, thx!
Regarding parallel processing - available only in standalone, where you can configure your multichannel interface to reach individual fx slots.

Yep - finally getting a late start on the Quarantine beard.

Excellent - thanks for the heads up!

  • This video slipped by my completely. I must watch it. I discovered it exists by scanning the "Recently Uploaded" queue on YouTube.

But I can also see many did catch the announcement and watch the video.

Before watching I will say that MixBox CS provides that special tube equipment sound that
I love the "Magic Death Eye" compressors for. Since getting MixBox CS I haven't even opened MDE more than a couple times.

Most of these FX are classic studio gear... was there ever a classic studio Octaver?
And Tuner? (Hello Strobo-Conn). Most High Schools Bands had one in my youth.

  • I made it through all 70 FX'es. Nice job planning and executing on this one, Dave.

I tend to use this app for my masterbus needs... most often with the typical
Compressor+EQ+Reverb+Limiter set up. I often add multiple Dynamics FX units
because they seem to add that extra tube magic with different EQ emphasis.

For Guitar I use TH-U. No need for MixBox for that tone/amp(s)/FX crafting.

  • There's a lot of power in MixBox. I'm not in love with every single one of the effects but the sheer amount and range of tools included is astonishing.
