what is the best ios Phaser app?
i was just needing to use a phaser in order to place my some audio in 3d space and realized i have none. what is a good phaser on ios ?
Comments
FAC Phazer has 4 models, 1-6 poles selectable, LR phase difference, and fantastic sound quality. Probably the best IOS phaser at the moment.
Other notable mentions are the Filter Phaser in mixbox, which has a great overdrive. And the Drambo Phaser, which you can obviously modulate in many interesting ways (such as with a stereo lfo).
The 3 phasers mentioned all have negative and positive feedback. Audio Damage's 'PhaseThree' phaser has 6 or 12 stages, but only does positive feedback. Modulation doesn't appear able to be turned off either in PhaseThree.
And a slightly different approach:

very cool. thanks for the list. I’m gonna look at all those!
FAC Phazer all the way!
New to Drambo, trying this out seems to mostly work great. I've substituted an auv3 instrument for the sampler, and can expand and contract the Phaser module by clicking on triangles in upper right of its title bar.
However, when I click on the triangles on upper left of Phaser's title bar (i.e., to left of the 'Phaser-XL2' title) it crashes Drambo. Not sure what's going on there.
@eross FAC, hands down. Most versatile, but sounds the best with zero tweaking also. No question - it can sound like all the others.
The PhaseThree models the MuTron Bi-Phase and is very nice. But, yeah, you can’t go wrong with the FAC Phazer.
Not AUv3 but totally out of this world: https://apps.apple.com/app/phaser-type-i/id413053673
🤣
If we’re bringing pedals into the mix, I use the Walrus Audio Lillian phaser. I also play bass and can make any phaser, or really any pedal, work as long as there is a mix knob. Same with synths.
FAC Phazer. Everyone knows already how great FAC’s stuff is, but I think he deserves even more credit. His phaser and chorus are literally the best I’ve ever heard, software or hardware. Alteza is its own unique beast as well, just not (for me) as all-purpose use as the other two effects.
Did anyone compare the FAC Phazer to the Bleass Phaser and if so whats your take on it?

The only stand alone one I own right now is Phlox by Flora Creative and I quite like it. The one in Drambo is very good as well. Same for MixBox.
When I want the best pure, familiar phaser sound. I go for the FAC. When I need more steps and more ability to tweak the phase In either/both its waveform or stereo field, I go to Bleass. Phase Three is very nice too but very narrow based on its being true to the Mutron Biphase.
Push comes to shove, the FAC and the Bleass are all you’ll ever need (unless you get into Dramboland, which I have not).
The MoogerFooger phaser is good, but I think making this demo just now convinced me that on iOS, FAC Phazer is still the king:

Yeah when it comes to phaser and chorus, the FAC apps can’t be beat for sound. Features wise I love the Bleass one and Choric is amazing for weird chorus sounds. But the FAC apps are beautiful.
Yes! The Bleass one is interesting, but I prefer the FAC sound. The Moogerfooger definitely has a nice vintage sound but I still think I prefer FAC, on balance. If I want it a bit dirtier I can always add a moogerfooger (or other) Saturator after it!
Forgot about the Moog one! It’s one of the least used from the set for me but it is great! Been meaning to run some electric pianos through it though.
I’ve only seen videos of the FAC Phaser but it seems great. His chorus is simply gorgeous. I saw the price of the Phaser is going up soon too, so maybe I need to take the chance (if I don’t win your giveaway on Twitter 😂)
I love the Bleass stuff just for its experimental nature. They always go the extra mile with modulation and weirdness and I appreciate that.
