Ableton Link Question - Can I use Audiobus to make Interapp Audio Apps sync with ableton link?
I'm specifically wondering about Yamaha Mobile Music Sequencer app, trying to find the best way to get it to connect with external ableton link apps.
thanks

If an app supports Ableton Link then you don't need to do anything Link will just work. If an app doesn't support Ableton Link but is Audiobus compatible, then it will work too.
From what I can see Yamaha Mobile Music Sequencer is IAA and Audiobus compatible. However, the update history doesn't indicate that Audiobus compatibility has been updated since iOS 8 in 2015. So ... whether or not it will work is hard to say.
AUM is another option if it doesn't work well with Audiobus. Link should keep the host in time, and IAA sync should keep YMMS in time. Maybe. I don't have the app so I can't test. It doesn't look like an aggressively updated app.
MIDI sync is broken in YMMS, both for receiving and sending.
Maybe someone should tell Yamaha how MIDI clock sync usually works.
They send clock messages but no status messages which makes it basically useless.
I can only guess that the IAA implementation is just as messed up 😉
Thanks for the confirmation! I've been trying to get it to sync for a while! I will try aum
