Connection between Mixer Audio Interface and Camcorder

I need to share the audio output of Focusrite 18i8 into camcorder ( rca inputs) with almost 0 latency. I’m planning buy a mixer to get audio from 18i8 to camcorder and monitors. But I have read that this setup will have some latency issues and little bit lose of sound quality. Is there any recommended solution for this kind of Situation? Or is it better to buy another audio interface instead of mixer?

If you mean a digital mixer, then that would not be ideal. You generally want to avoid Digital (iOS)–>Analog (18i8)–>Digital (mixer)–>Analog (camcorder). Can't you just use the Focusrite outputs directly, with suitable adapters, of course? Alternatively, maybe you can use a compact digital mixer with USB to replace the Focusrite when you're doing this.

I meant analog mixer & the workflow is DAW -> 18i8 -> analog mixer OR Audio interface -> camcorder & Monitors

  • @TheSoundKid would running the feed from the headphone out of the 18i8 work? The patch cable required is easy to get and I don't think you'd have much of an issue sound quality wise. It would only be one digital to analog conversion so latency should be minimal. You could then be in control of the levels going into the camera from your headphone out....just a thought, unless you are already using the headphone outs for other duties.
