DrumJam not loading into Audiobus

I can't get DJ to load into Audiobus 2. It just sleeps. Thumbjam works fine and I can open DJ into other apps like Audioshare and Cubasis. I reinstalled it to no avail and I'm out of ideas. I'm on iOS 14.

Audiobus 2? I have no idea if Audiobus version makes a difference but Audiobus 2 was last updated 3 years ago and Audiobus 3 has had a lot of attention. You might think about getting it.

It loads fine from Audiobus 3 on iOS 13.7. Have you tried launching DrumJam first?

I'm on 14.0.1 & in Audiobus 2 I get the same behavior. It loads fine but when you click away to something else, it goes to sleep. Unfortunately, loading DJ first gives the same sleepy result. I read this post and tried recreating the issue out of curiosity ( I had to re-download AB2) because since Audiobus 3 was released I just never use AB2.

If it's important enough to you, I second the suggestion to buy AB3. I have no issues with DJ playing as expected in AB3. Probably not the solution you were looking for but, as mentioned, AB3 is worth owning for several other of it's improvements over AB2.

    And welcome aboard!

  • Hi All. DrumJam loads fine for me but has other issues. I use odd time signatures a lot, and Drumjam allows choice of beat cycles from 2 to 8. But after recent iterations of AB, both 7/4 (familiar in Brubeck’s ‘Unsquare Dance’) and 5/4 (in Brubeck’s ‘Take Five’) keep reverting to 4/4 (‘common time’).

I hope the DJ crew take a look and also provide higher-numbered cycles. Escape from 4/4 flatland is the wave (or lurch) of the future...

You might want to contact @Michael if the problem with time signatures seems to be on the Audiobus side. Is DJ remembering the time signatures if you are loading it completely standalone?

  • AB doesn’t deal with time signatures; that’s up to the generator apps; AB just provides a tempo. So I’d be surprised if it was anything to do with Audiobus...
