Recording on Ableton on Mac from Ipad apps

Hi Everyone.
New guy here. I'm just discovering this new world of Ipad music apps. Blown away by Audiobus and Audiokit so far.

I'm trying to figure out connectivity. I record on Ableton Live that resides on my Macbook. How can I connect Audiokit Synth One and/or Audiobus (and other apps) so that they show up in my Ableton tracks? Do I have to use an audio interface or can Ableton detect in a different way?

Or if I'm missing something please let me know.

Cheers Everyone.

IDAM gives you audio from iOS to Mac and MIDI both ways.

Google "configure IDAM with Ableton Live" or ...

  • Oh! and welcome to the forum! B)

  • You can use IDAM to feed midi (to and from) digital audio (one way/ iPad to Mac only) into your Macbook:

Connect your Macbook and iPad to the same wifi network and use Ableton Link to sync your iPad to Live.

  • I discovered a week or so ago the world of Ableton Live and was blown away by the possibilities in contrast to the world of iOS. So easy, so stable, so powerful, works directly with the file system, no need to import same files into 50 different apps and work around missing features.
The relevant links to set it up are already here, just wanted to state that it does work really well to use iPad apps together with Albeton Live via Link and USB. Much better than trying to record things on iPad and then work with the recordings.

  • Awesome! I'm up and running. IDAM settings took about 30 seconds.
    Cheers guys

I’ve been digging deep into ableton, but I still find iOS a great environment for different kinds of music making.
