Cry for help: If you have Drambo and moodunits (export audio issue)

Hi Folks,

If you have Drambo and moodunits and you're willing to help out, I'd be most grateful. I can't seem to be able to export audio when hosting an instance of MU Waverley in Drambo.

It looks to me like when you Export audio (either song or current pattern) you end up with an audio file corresponding to the length of the pattern, but it is totally silent, or will have a kick drum if the metronome is enabled.

The really curious thing is, I would normally expect to receive a whole load of initialisation and preparation before the render (*), but I get literally nothing from Drambo during the export process as far as I can tell. I was not expecting that at all!

On the off-chance, does a Drambo developer check in here?

(*) For the techie-inclined, there's a whole bunch of stuff that usually gets called prior to an offline render, resources deallocated, reallocated (several times in the cases of some hosts...) plus the odd AudioUnit reset for good measure. When I do the Drambo export, I don't see anything at all.

Could it be that I'm doing something wrong in Drambo itself? I've only just looked at it to try and debug this issue and it's way too complicated for my tiny mind

If anyone is willing to try this out to confirm I'd be very grateful, but please make sure you're on moodunits 1.6.4 or later as I've had to fix two other separate AU host issues just this week which could be related.

  • He might but it's a better bet to check over at the Drambo forums.

  • Will do, thanks @Samu

    Hey @moodscaper
Happy to help out in any way.
Works on my side, see here:

The video is unlisted so you need to open it with that link specifically.

    Waverly: 1.6.5 (2)

  • @MrBlaschke - many thanks! Can I ask what iOS version you're on as I'm pretty sure I've followed your video exactly and I get no audio at all

    I'm on 14.4

  • For sure @moodscaper
The one specifically tested is on 13.7
I have another one on actual 14.x revision - but as i am in the Drambo beta-team i have the latest beta on that one. I will test that right away. Hang on.

  • @moodscaper
Yep - that’s another weird iOS 14 thing.
Exactly like you mentioned: correct length but silent on iOS14 with latest Drambo beta version.

As you did not say anything about your iOS version i thought i test it quickly on the iPad i sat in front of and that was the 13.7 one.

  • Can confirm iPad with 14.4 and current Drambo version that is on the app store, the export doesn't work exactly how you described it

  • Thanks @FloRi89. I'm still trying to come up with a workaround my side as it seem to be related to how Drambo does things which is different to all the other hosts I've looked at.

If it helps with the debugging, when I click export I hear a short sound as if the first step is beeing played.

Thanks - I hear that too. Cry for help, certainly seemed to be the best choice of words for this thread title!

That is perfectly normal - it‘s been there for ages
