Best AU Guitar Sounds App.
What can people recommend, there seems to be a gap in the market for something like this maybe classical or jazz?
When iOS first came out there were loads of guitar apps they all seem to gone in recent years. Would love some decent sounding emulations. Moodunits come to mind andmaye PureSynth and iFretless Guitar that’s about it.
It would be nice to have a AU app dedicated to this iconic instrument .

Geoshred is the obvious candidate but that's more for lead sounds in my experience. It's not an answer to your question but I really like the guitars in ZenBeats for bread and butter guitar sounds.
Agree there's a big gap in the market though!
I'm searching for an Funk guitar app. Is there anything on ios to do some mutes etc.?
I have Zenbeats will have to dig in to see what’s there. I have all these effect apps will love a decent guitar app to go with them.
Jam Maestro has some good sounds and also BeatHawk Funk pack for muted guitar.
IFretless remains the one for me right now. I know there is a plan to make it AUv3 at some point. We need a good physically modeled guitar auv3. @audiomodeling doesn’t have enough going on 😉
I thought of the funk pack, but it's only loops and phrases as I know.
I love the guitars in puresynth platinum 2, maybe it's just my lacky knowledge of how to use them probably.
I like Roland soundcanvas wich has a lot of standard/classic Instrument Sounds, with external au-fx‘s you can create some really realistic (guitar) sounds.
Take a look at the SoundFonts AU app. There are tons of guitar soundfonts, some pretty good. I like the ones from Hedsound. Each one has a clean version and various effected options. It's all free, so worth a try.
I mean specifically the guitars in the recently released ZC1 Module. Check those out🙂
Though SoundCanvas itself isn't AU, and even the IAA implementation leaves a lot to be desired. But the sounds are very good considering the tiny app footprint and the fact that most of the samples are 25 years old; the jazz guitar patch isn't much worse than iFretless, which is the best of a terrible bunch on iOS (though frankly still tooth-grating, with horrendous transitions at key points in the range between samples that sound nothing like one another).
I have found Midi Strummer combined with SoundCanvas funk guitars to be a nice combination. I have also used Tonebridge as well for some funk sounding guitars sounds . I should mention too, that Midi Strummer does mutes and you can specify either an up or down stroke.
Spectrum Modal and Resonator are physical modeling synths, so can get good if not realistic guitar sounds from them with some tweaking.
BeatHawk has an IAP called funk
Lots of funky samples
Though SoundCanvas was removed from the Apple Store - so this is only a choice if you already own it. 😕
