Can I sample directly from my iTunes into Koala Sampler? (iPhone use case)

As the title suggests, I'm hoping to be able to directly, or at least reasonably directly, sample a song in iTunes with Koala Sampler. I'm hoping this is possible on the iPhone, where there is no slide-over/Multi screen capability.

I understand how extracting audio from YT videos works via screen record, but I don't think this is possible with the iTunes player is it? I can certainly sample in the output of the iPhone's speaker (very tinny), but I'm hoping for a direct internal path for proper fidelity.

You would either need an interface with loopback -- rig your audio interface to loopback -- or use an intermediate app (AnyTune + is one) that is able to import from iTunes and export from there.

  • Hmmm… maybe it would be easier playing the tune from my iPad via USB-C to Lightning cable? Of course if I do it all on the iPad it would probably make more sense. 🤔

  • The AUMediaPlayer app can access the iTunes library, and supports AUv3 plugins, including those with recording capability. I don't use iTunes, so cannot opine on the DRM aspect of this, but you might check it out.

  • Thanks!
