Simple auv3 for guitar sounds (that isn’t geoshred)?

Im looking for a source of guitar sounds. Ive tried geoshred play but honestly I dont like the interface (as a keyboardist the faux strings ui of geoshred or ifretless don’t do it for me). My ideal app would be something like an ipad version of AAS Strum Session. Any recommendations?

Chordpolypad is great for keyboard strumming, since each pad can be set to strum. As far as guitar sounds, everything I reference points to SampleTank. I personally find SampleTank’s UI cluttered and confusing and lack of AUV3 along with huge storage footprint frustrating. Hopefully AcousticSamples ports some of their guitars to iOS, like they did with VTines! ...Or maybe IK Multimedia will port their MODO series with a guitar version to iOS: https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/modobass/?pkey=modo-bass

  • You might like MIDI Strummer by 4pockets.com. Looking at AAS Strum session, it might be close enough to what you want. I prefer it to the guitar in Garageband for it's flexibility.

What is the goal? Editable MIDI from a guitar app? If not, I love Yonac’s Steel Guitar app (not AUv3, but IAA) for strumming and slide guitar work. It’s less capable (not as precise) compared to GeoShred for individual note picking, but I’ve managed to use it on hundreds of projects for both background rhythm and front and center simple solo guitar work.

  • @NeuM I'm looking as much for the sounds as the strumming... I've not found anything AUv3 yet (e.g. the closest things I found was sampletank which is IAA only) and I was wondering if I'm missing something obvious -but form the replies it seems maybe not.

Does anyone know if Beathawk has decent guitar sounds?

    • Beathawk has some pretty good guitars in some of their sound packs.
    • Pure Synth Platinum has some good ones, but is loaded with GBs of sounds you may not need.
    • Best fit IMO is bs-16i or the SoundFonts app with soundfonts included in the app and from the internet.
  • I currently use AudioLayer for my guitar sound. It’s auv3. I use the free Standard Guitar from https://unreal-instruments.wixsite.com/unreal-instruments/standard-guitar and sometimes the Metal GTX sounds from the same site. I’m just now learning how to set up samples in AudioLayer. I’m sure someone with greater knowledge would be able to create better sounds than I have. I’m still figuring out how to layer different samples and how to round robin/ randomize them to get some variation to sound less robotic. I do wish I knew of an all in one solution.

  • Chordpolypad works great for strumming with a MIDI controllers like the Arturia Keystep 37 strumming!

  • Have you tried MIDI Strummer?

  • Roli Noise free tier has a nice electric guitar.

I tried it, but got a refund. A wanted something sample-less, small footprint.

  • Not in any particular order.

    1. SoundFonts in Bismark or SoundFonts AU
    2. SFZ/EXS/Samples in Audiolayer
    3. Rest not AU, One decent IAA app is Guitar Capo +. There’s Guitarism which has midi out but not sure about IAA.
