Help with MIDI feedback (FCB1010 + Nanokontrol2)

Hi everyone! I searched the forums for something about this and didn't find anything. I also searched the web a bit. I'm trying to find out if I can use these controllers on the iPad, while sending messages to each other as well. Basically, can a pedal press on the FCB1010 send a message to an app while also sending feedback to turn on an LED on the nanokontrol?

  • MidiBus (Streambyter rewriter filter). Or TB MIDI Stuff. Or both.

  • the problem I see is: does the Nanokontrol understand MIDI feedback at all? Have you tested this with a computer? If it works, then you should be able to do this with the FCB1010. If you manage to connect both devices to an iPad. One is DIN MIDI and on is USB MIDI.

  • Yes, all the buttons have LED illumination and you send back the same CC as the button generates to control it. However the default setting is for the LED to light only when the button is pressed. You have to use the PC editor to change this so you can control them independently from button presses.

  • You'll need a MIDI to USB interface, a powered USB hub, and the Apple CCK. No drivers involved.

  • Cool, I'm very new to MIDI. So I wanted to make sure I was actually trying something possible first.

I'm using the EIE, so connectivity shouldn't be an issue, right? I can hook up 5-pin and USB devices simultaneously. I'll keep everyone posted on my progress :) thanks for all the help!
