Seeking a reliable Wordpress developer

I'd like to get some wordpress stuff up and running, and I'm seeking a reliable Wordpress developer. Any leads?

Actual customized development, like building/modifying plugins? Or just getting a site up and running?

In other words, do you need a programmer, or an implementer?

I’m curious about this as well. I’m looking for an implementer I think, just set up. However I’ve done a decent amount of research recently and based on some stuff I read, someone with a little bit of tech savvy could have a WP site up with some basic plugins (mostly, if not all free ones) in a few weeks, with not much investment other then hosting costs... Is that correct? I was hoping to Use a free template as well, or would that be a mistake...?

I’d love to pick your brain a little @wim It sounds like you have a decent knowledge of the WP game. Nothing crazy, maybe a few PM questions in the future if that’s ok? I recently gave a proposal at my company about doing this very thing, so I spent a ton of time researching this idea and the implementation process. It turned out they had hired a marketing firm and got a similar proposal a month before mine, so.. yea, but they will be using me as a freelance writer. So that’s cool.

Just to clarify this would be for something separate then the work proposal.

I'm not really a good person to go to for Wordpress advice. I put up a few company sites long, long, long ago, and I recently tried to help a friend with it. She ended up losing interest rather quickly, so that doesn't count for much.

I only asked the question because I understand the basic mechanics and felt the use of the term "developer" might be misleading if all the OP was looking for was reliable help getting a site up.

Is there something you're looking to do that isn't available via the GUI on wordpress.com?

    Good suggestion.

Been running a WP site for my business for many years, it's not too hard to do on your own. The included wordpress themes are pretty diverse and very stable, so I would highly recommend starting with one of those if you can. There's a lot of really fancy themes you can buy if you want, some a quite good too. But it's just a lot easier to get a feel for things and troubleshoot if you stick to the provided theme IMVHO. At least initially.

Feel free to ask any questions, I had a pretty active blog running on the site for a few years as well.

In between. I can totally get a site up-and-spinning myself, and install plugins, click menu options myself.

But, I’ve actually got a tangle of sites I want to bring up to date, and integrate membership and commerce. It’s more a time than talent issue for me.

  • Awesome. Thank you all for suggestions and especially @Tarekith for his offer, thanks man, I’ll most likely be in touch at some point. Cheers.
