You’re welcome, if you do a more thorough research of this talented artists’s interviews, you’ll find some cool music theory, improv, and humanistic stories. Very special and interesting!

I can hear how learned he is! I do enjoy him on The Late Show and loved Soul! I love how he blended the anthems. I will definitely dig deeper.

All sorts really, I’m trying to find my voice at the * moment

Nice! Nothing like exploration. I find myself falling back on jazz, soul, hip hop, dub, techno, house, African, Latin... my roots. I love feel good, organic music.

Lately I’ve been exploring creativity, practicing constraints. I’m creating a soundtrack for an imaginary movie. It’s awesome because I’m making tracks for each scene, which forces me to think about tempo and feeling. Along with that I’m forcing myself to upload each song to SoundCloud 80% done. The theory is you are never really done with something so why not share it when it’s 80% complete. I can always revisit it later. The more work I complete the more I learn my process.

    Feel me?

Haven't watched yet, but big Jon Batiste fan.

  • Jon Batiste is awesome, I’ll listen to this tomorrow. If you haven’t seen the hbo series “Tremé,” he is in it a little bit but as a whole it’s worth watching. I think it’s on Amazon prime for free.

  • Your post reminded me to rewatch this video with Batiste and Marsalis.

  • I saw Jon Batiste in Montreux Jazz Festival on last Sunday. I had never heard of him before and was there for the set of Jacob Collier. I have been very impressed by this sunny and beautiful person. His music is amazing, I strongly recommend to have a listen to his album "We are"
