Glitch app decision

Not sure whether I should go Shaper (by K-Devices) or GlitchCore - looking for opinions so I can compare/contrast.

Reasonably subtle use on spoken passage samples but looking to maybe expand uses (creative suggestions gratefully received).

Currently use Turnado which is great but looking for something a little more straightforward and ‘in the moment’

not sure. Guess its about the sampler you use. Maybe samplr is good as it might have already gllitchy stuff. Then add scatterbrain for probabilty style glitch mapped to a knob. Then I think it has multi out. So maybe then it can sort of be more because effects might be on different frequencies. Shaper would just be distortion/bit/fuzz but would be a good addition to above. Glitchcore I think is just a stutter. Drambo has added glitch modules. Not sure but think they work best on master track but only made one track. Gauss is also good with radio unit. Just tap record then on/off. Through effects plus the sequencing/pitch manipulation of multi tape speeds.

Made me think if Id need samplr from above philiosphy. Will check but koala and effects might be good enough.

For glitch that keeps ( you ) interested Id say gauss, radio unit, turnado and either scatter and or shaper. Scatter might be similar to turnado, if its possible to use lfos that add a wave to a turnado glitch effect. Shaper for being better at what it does than turnado.

  • yeah so. With gauss and radio unit. Plus the effect you were asking for. You can just press a button on/off and its live radio glitch but you could also use a sampler you might use into gauss.

  • Partial list for homegrown “Turnado”:

    BitMaestro
    GlitchCore
    Bleass SlowMo
    TTAP (or another versatile delay)

ScatterBrain for the Brains or Multiple Send busses and MuteMaster

  • @sigma79 yeah you’re right that glitch isn’t just what Shaper is about but I do really like what i’ve heard its gate effect do i.e. dynamic glitches.

Scatterbrain looks intriguing, that one passed me by somehow - thanks for your input

Thanks for these tips. To be clear I’m not looking to recreate all of what Turnado can do, just the glitching part. Sounds like you rate GlitchCore and another vote for Scatterbrain - definitely gonna have to check that out

    A word.

ScatterBrain can emulate a bit of what GlitchCore does in that it has steps and steps can be skipped. GlitchCore can reorder and reverse and freeze audio so it’s more “versatile”. Warning sometimes chaining GlitchCore after Using can result in GlichCore having no audio signal to glitch depending on how ScatterBrain is sequenced.

Also don’t sleep on MuteMaster especially if yo want more than 1 bar to be switched on and off for effects. GlitchCore does about a bars worth, Scatterbrain can do a little longer due to its SLOW 8xs mode, but MuteMaster can switch it up for longer periods depending on how you set it up.
