iOS drum machines and Tempo control?
Does anyone here know if any of the iOS drum apps have figured out a way for a user to "send" a tempo setting to it? I know in hardware devices (some) they have figured a way utilising two CC commands in the same string so one can send tempo values higher than 128, not sure about the software options though??

Loopy (and maybe AB3?) allows you to tap a tempo in via midi note or CC. You can then use LINK or virtual MIDI to sync your drum app.
Not sure if this is what you’re looking for! But hey, it’s good stuff either way.
Are you really only interested in drum apps for this? As in stand-alone apps?
I ask because most drum apps are or can be used in a host. In that case, it's the host you need to control the tempo of, not the drum app. The answer to your question is different depending on the use-case.
Are you having trouble with some app for combination of apps? I have no trouble using MIDI Clock to set the tempo to any tempo. I don't believe MIDI CC is typically used to change tempo.
Thanks guys, tap temp does work, and i may end up using it anyway, but I have found that using them (drum machines - in particular Lumbeat apps) is just too awkward so I'll use it within a host app, probs AUM Mixer as Camelot Pro does not do IAA apps and has no intention of doing so, and Lumbeat have no intention of releasing their apps in AUv3....AUM I ahve discovered will send CLOCK with the tempo that the session is using so that works and I can select sessions via MIDI...just going to be a pain to enter them all in to AUM haha!
Re CC for tempo, no not for iOS stuff but for hardware you can, in this case Beatbuddy...it uses a combo of CC 106,107 and a value to do this.
CC for tempo is something some devices might offer but that isn’t generally how it is done. It isn’t a generic thing lots of apps or devices do.
